Manufacturer's product description
The High Resolution Standard Yield Color Print Cartridge ensures true photo quality on any paper type combining the 7 picoliter drop size together with the Lexmark unique 1200x1200 resolution! All Lexmark inkjet cartridges have the actual print head, there where the core inkjet technology lies, integrated to the cartridge bottle. The main advantage to having the print head as an integrated part to the cartridge is that Lexmark customers get a new print head with each cartridge replacement! This is each time like getting a brand new printer all over again! No risk of deterioration of the print head (and therefore a decrease in quality) during the life of the printer as can be the case with other manufacturers who integrate the print head as a fixed part inside the printer itself. Lexmark was the first manufacturer to introduce 1200x1200 dpi print heads. 1200x1200 dots per inch is the ability that Lexmark print heads have to place individual droplets of ink accurately on a 1200x1200 matrix per square inch of paper. Extreme precision and high resolution lead to the first class print quality provided by Lexmark printheads. With the introduction of the Z52 Color Jetprinter that can achieve a resolution of 2400x1200 dpi, Lexmark provides the ultimate in high resolution printing today! The High Resolution Standard Yield Color Print Cartridge guarantees photo quality without the need for a photo cartridge. The print head features even smaller nozzle holes that can fire ink drops almost invisible to the human eye! For all the color inks Lexmark chooses to use dye-based inks because of their unique ability to create richer and brighter colors, a wider color ink spectrum and light fastness. Lexmark has increased the percentage of dye in its latest generation of inks by 30%. This increase in the amount of dye creates brighter, richer colors that dramatically enhance the quality of prints. All Lexmark printer drivers offer a choice of printing modes based on the quality required and the time available to customers. The Quick Print mode (600x300 dpi) uses less than 50% of the ink quantity used in higher printing modes and provides a maximum print speed while still ensuring a more than acceptable quality. The Quick Print mode enables you to use the ink in an economical and efficient way based on your specific needs!
Advantages: Colur quality , ease of fitting , will fit many printers Disadvantages: Cost
...This cartridge fits a variety of Lexmark printers.
In general it is easy to fit - with the usual load and lock Lexmark carriage on your printer. Just take off the tape covering the print head insert the cartridge and lock into the carriage. Most printer software will detect this change and then ask you to go through the simple cartidge alignment procedure
The cartridge produces quality output - colours are very good and realistic. depending on the printer you can get near photo quality prints from this cartidge
It has a reasonable output in terms of number of pages it will create
My only gripe is the cost of these cartridges - you need to consider refilling them as a cost effective way of prolonging their life. In some cases the cartidge will costy more than the printer cost originally . Lexmark need to do something about this ....

...The lexmark 82 cartridge is a decent ink cartridge that delivers all that you expect but nothing more and ends up being satisfactory. It is a black ink catridge compatible with the following printer series:
X5100 series
Z55 series
Z65 series
As you can see the lexmark 82 is not compatible with a lot of printers. Whenever i see other ink cartridges, their list of compatible printers is usually quite long but not this one. As a result the cartridge is not in as much demand as other cartridges and i often find that my local high street stores dont sell them or are out of stock.
The main problem with this cartridge is the price. Whenever i go to my local high street to buy ink i always find that this ink cartridge is always more expensive than most of the other ink cartridges for other lexmarks, as well as other printer brands...

Advantages: Lasts some time Disadvantages: Very expensive, there does not seem to be compatibles
...Those who haven't may wish to read my review on the Lexmark 3200 printer these work with.
On the positive side, I did find this cartridge and its sister cartridge the 12A1970 lasted quite a long time in my printer. This is only in ocasional use however and mostly for printing black text documents with the occasional graphic so this colour cartridge was not getting used much. To those who would use it often, a more economical printer would be suited. The print quality for this is average but that depends more on the printer than the cartridge as does the print speed, which is as slow as it comes on the 3200.
It does have failings however. The largest of these being its price tag. At last check it hink it was £25-£30 for this cartridge. This along with the lack of compatibles on the market make this, and the printer it fits, a very...
