Manufacturer's product description
Lexmark Z55se Color JetPrinter is an ideal combination of precision and printing speed with the dynamic variable drop size (starting at 3 pL): small drops for fine detail, large drops for fast coverage. The Lexmark Z55se Color JetPrinter features fast and accurate cartridge replacement with automatic cartridge alignment, paper type sensor for automatic paper type detection and automatic driver settings.
Advantages: Small size, cheap Disadvantages: Not the best printing quality, ink cartridge runs out too quickly.
...I bought this printer as a replacement for my fairly old HP 960. I have never owned a Lexmark printer before but decided to try it this time. Not a wise decision as it turned out.
I chose the Z515 for two reasons. Its small size and its low price. However it seems that the “You only get what you pay for” saying is 100% true in this case…
The package includes only a color ink cartridge so if you want to print normal documents or emails you need to purchase a black one which adds an extra £15 to the price of the printer (aprox £30)
The installation is very easy with the enclosed CDROM which installs the drivers and a number of maintenance applications.
The printing quality is not great, certainly well below the quality if my old HP printer but for standard home use its probably OK. Surprisingly enough the quality is better...

Advantages: RESOLUTION, speed, ease of use, price Disadvantages: no
...The LexmarkZ31 comes from the Z-series line of lexmark inkjet printers. There is also a Z11 and a Z51.
The feature that attracted me to the Z31 was the high resolution. When printing in best mode the resolution is 1200x1200. It is a rather fast printer also. It can spit out up to 8 pages per minute in black ink and 3.5 pages per minute in color. The Hewlett Packard 880C which can print 9 pages per minute black and white and 6.5 pages in color has a resolution of only 600 dots per inch in black. (The LexmarkZ51 can print 10 pages per minute in black and 5 in color)
Paper feeding is easy. It has a better paper tray than the Lexmark 1100 which many people are familiar with. Although, it is different than the Hewlett Packard printers in that the tray is upright behind the printer. Although the tray only holds 25 pages of paper at a time...

Advantages: Great little printer from a trusted Brand Name Disadvantages: The usual one for printers - cheap printer - expensive ink!
...I've owned my trusty little colorLexmarkZ53 for several years.
It was cheap when I bought it at about £60 so you should be able to pick one up for peanuts now.
OK it's not up to the "as true as life" digital printing that todays top-end models are but I have used it quite satisfactorily for photo reproduction without problem.
Easy to use, easy to change cartridges, cheap as chips, reliable, good printing speed. Good for colour or general text work.
Downsides? Just two cartridges Black and Colour. Cartridges are never cheap. Lexmark ones are around £22 for Black, £25 for Colour.
But they do last a good while for general use and many third parties make perfectly good cartridges suitable for this machine at around £17 for Black £20 for colour.
You can also of course use a refill kit if you wish but seeing the mess I...

I have nothing but good things to say about this particular printer. Every function is simple to use and it comes with a great utilities software to enhance its performance. The printing quality is very nice for the amount of money spent. Ink cartridges more
It was inevitable.
Our old printer was also cheap and after less than 2 years of use, died on us.
