Well my sister was always using my printer and my ink was running out, so because I am nice I said to her she could have my printer, not knowing I am going out to buy another one. I was looking on the net for a cheapish printer just to print out some work, only about 10 pages a week. I went on to the argos site, I thoguht I would give it a try, and to my surprise the Lexmark Z601 caught my eye. At this time I didn't look at the price but put it straight into my basket. When I got to the checkout it was £30!!! I couldn't believe it.
Anyway when it arrived I tried to connet it to my PC, but guess what, there was no USB lead and Only one colour CARTRIDGE!!!
Luckily I had a spare UBS lead off my old digital camera so I connected it up and installed it which only took about 5 - 10 minutes.
After I had read the manual I think this printer is very cleaer because you only need a colour cartridge and it prints out black aswell. It won't run out as fast but if you can't afford both you can just buy a colour.
The printer itself is only 1.8kg in weight which is very light.
Now as for the printer goes, I thought because it was so cheap that the black ink would fade and the pictures were going come out all dotty and horrible.
At first I tried prining out a normal page of writing in black ink. I thought that my printer was broke already as I couln't hear it working. I looked under my desk and there was the printer, printing the document out very fast. This printer has got to be the quietest printer I have ever had, you can't even hear that it's on. When the page came out the ink did not smudge, and for a first print there was no lines or no flaws on it at all.
I put a picture on to a word document to see if it did actually have a 2400 x 1200 dpi as that is quite good in my opinion. Yet again you could not hear it and printed out very fast. I looked at the picture, I had to blink a few times, I thought that I had put a photo in there by mistake. So yes it has got 2400 x 1200 dpi.
The printer has a few more good features, it can print out 10 pages per minute in black ink and 8 pages per minute in colour ink. It will work on most computers and comes with a full years warrenty!
Well I think this is the best £30 I have spent in a long time. If you have any more questions about this just drop me a message and I will be happy to answer them for you.
