LexmarkE 330, a workgroup monochrome laser printer, is my main printer at my workplace. With the size of around one foot in all dimensions (Width: 39.6 cm X Depth: 35.3 cm X Height: 24.9 cm), the printer can be placed almost everywhere in the office; on a tables, cupboards, shelves, or else. It is a network printer which surpassed 40,000 pages right now, so, I have many things to review about!!
Installation and Setup
On the very first day if my use, I've used it as my personal printer. The driver for LexmarkE 330 is included in the package which I found it can easily be installed. You can plug it in USB or parallel port as you like. After that, the printer had to be installed in the network which was beyond my responsibility. The IT staff was there to set it up. ...for this printer. When I spoke to them, they didn't think they could, but they may be able to in the future. This was at first a major problem for me, as Lexmark consumables are notoriously expensive. However, after reading up on it a bit, I find that Lexmark offer a 'Returns Program' toner, which is priced at a reasonable level, with the condition that the toner be sent back to them after use, presumably to compete with the likes of Cartridge World.
As I have mentioned, the main requirement for me was that the printer supported Linux, and this one does. It also supports:
- Windows 98SE,ME,2000,XP,XP64,Server 2003
- Mac OS 9,10.2,10.3,10.4
- Linux (as mentioned)
The system requirements vary between systems, but are not unreasonable.

...I have two Lexmark inkjet printers. One (Z605 model) is mine; the other (Z35) is on loan to me in connection with my degree course. Luckily, both printers use the same ink cartridges. These are:
Z16/Z17 - black
Z26/Z27 - colour
The same ink cartridges are compatible with a range of Lexmark inkjet printers, notably:
Lexmark Colour Jetprinters - Z13, Z23e, Z25, Z25L, Z33, Z34
Lexmark Colour Jetprinters - Z515, other Z600 series
Lexmark All-In-Ones - X72, X74, X75, X1100 series
**** So, what about buying the Z16 cartridges? ****
They come in a nice, neat little pack. The Z16 code is prominently displayed, as is a full list of the compatible Lexmark printers. So, no need to remember the cartridge code if you have committed your printer model to memory.
