...Introduction
LexmarkE 330, a workgroup monochrome laser printer, is my main printer at my workplace. With the size of around one foot in all dimensions (Width: 39.6 cm X Depth: 35.3 cm X Height: 24.9 cm), the printer can be placed almost everywhere in the office; on a tables, cupboards, shelves, or else. It is a network printer which surpassed 40,000 pages right now, so, I have many things to review about!!
Installation and Setup
On the very first day if my use, I've used it as my personal printer. The driver for LexmarkE 330 is included in the package which I found it can easily be installed. You can plug it in USB or parallel port as you like. After that, the printer had to be installed in the network which was beyond my responsibility. The IT staff was there to set it up. I watched them and realised that, it was...

Advantages: Built-in network print server, fast printing, fairly low cost, support for Linux Disadvantages: Non-trivial, but not impossible, network installation under Windows XP
...for this printer. When I spoke to them, they didn't think they could, but they may be able to in the future. This was at first a major problem for me, as Lexmark consumables are notoriously expensive. However, after reading up on it a bit, I find that Lexmark offer a 'Returns Program' toner, which is priced at a reasonable level, with the condition that the toner be sent back to them after use, presumably to compete with the likes of Cartridge World.
As I have mentioned, the main requirement for me was that the printer supported Linux, and this one does. It also supports:
- Windows 98SE,ME,2000,XP,XP64,Server 2003
- Mac OS 9,10.2,10.3,10.4
- Linux (as mentioned)
The system requirements vary between systems, but are not unreasonable.
The final requirement for me was that the printer support easy networking. This printer does indeed...

Advantages: good cheap printer Disadvantages: colour could be better
...Its possible these days to get printers that are really cheap, cheaper infact than the ink that goes in them itself. And this is another one like that.
So here is a fantastic printer, made by Lexmark, who make and specialise in designing and making quality printers. Its does a lot of things and even has some capabilities built it that for a printer coming in at just £35 you totally wouldn’t expect.
The printer is cheaper than some of their usual models, and it perhaps doesn’t look quite as good. There’s no glossy white or black finish like on their more stylish models and it does appear quick big and bulky. I think that they could have probably cut down a bit on the size as some appears just as waste.
The buttons or rather lack of buttons on this printer could be looked at as a bad thing. However when I use...
