I purchased the X2350 all in one printer very inexpensively for an all in one at a electronic superstore in the UK. Having paid a reasonably low price I expected a reflection of this on the product. However I was very satisfied with the product. Installation was very straightforward and the all in one came with a variety of bundled software! Setting up the X2350 could hardly have been simpler. You plug in the power lead, plug in the USB cable and install the software from the CD. As well as the printer driver, Lexmark includes its All-in-One Centre, complete with OCR software and a basic photo editor. The design of the all in one is very simplistic. There is an opening at the front of the printer and this is where printed pages come out, once they’ve been fed through from a near-vertical hopper at the rear. An extending grey tray keeps print outs off the desktop. The scanner cover is a simple, hinged lid and the whole of the top section of the machine lifts to give access to the single print cartridge. This single print cartridge, which contains the colours (which themselves produce black), is easily installed also. At the front right is a control panel of three buttons, for power, scan and copy (the machine can copy even when not connected to a PC which I think is brilliant and its extremely useful). At the back is one of Lexmark’s clever block power supplies, clipped into a recess that leaves it nearly flush to the back panel. The X2350 produces very respectable photo prints though don’t expect plain paper prints or copies of the same quality. The printer produces black by printing cyan, magenta and yellow on top of each other and to be blunt, the result of this is rubbish. When you want to print black on close inspection its actually not black at all! And so it is here. Print a page of black text and you get a page of brownish grey text which says, to anybody reading it, ‘This was produced on a very cheap printer’. There’s nothing you can do about it, you’re stuck with three colours on this machine.
To conclude this printer is one of simplicity. It has an ease of installation and use though printing quality on standard documents isn't great. Overall the quality reflects the price of the machine. For minimal amateur printing this printer is brilliant with its small price tag. This is, without doubt, the least expensive all-in-one machine on the market. It works well, if a little slowly, but is mainly held back by its plain paper print quality. Photos are fine, but black text and colour graphics look insipid – as if they’ve all been printed in draft mode. Best advice is to see a plain paper print sample before you buy.
Advantages: Price, Copier Disadvantages: Paper feed, print quality
...just the one cartridge - lexmark no1) as the colour black prints out as dark blue - don't even think about trying to print out photographs. As with all lexmark budget printers the paper feed is very frustrating. I find myself putting 1 sheet of paper into feeder at a time as it struggles to handle any more than that. It generally pushes out all the paper if you attempt to load several sheets. Another problem I've had is that it is not compatible ... ...the lexmark site but this is quite long winded and not guarenteed to work instantly (I had to download the drivers twice). The copying facilty is probably the best feature as you can simply use the printer directly without having to go through the computer. Scratching around for other positives..... The ink cartridge (for what its worth) is reasonably priced at around £13. Thats about all. I strongly advise you not to buy this product unless quality ...
