Advantages: Has the speed and output quality of a more expensive model; lots of bundled software; easy to use. Disadvantages: Catridges are expensive to replace; Sloping scanner bed
...all-in-one solution I spotted the Lexmark X5150 and knew it had to be this one. It combines good printing and scanning resolution with a fantastic price and it was this combination that set it apart from the rest. It matches all-in-one printers double it's price for quality and I wondered how they could sell it this cheaply.
I got it back home and set it up easily. You can either connect it to your PC via a USB cable or using the normal printer ... ...as I have windows XP, my computer recognised it straight away and installed it for me!
The only manual bit of installing I had to do was install the software for this printer/scanner. This is also, very easy to set up and use, and everything you do on the printer shows upon the PC and vice versa and when the PC says that the printing is 70% complete, it really is, it isn't lying as is the case with some machines!

As I browsed the shop looking for the perfect all-in-one solution I spotted the Lexmark X5150 and knew it had to be this one. It combines good printing and scanning resolution with a fantastic price and it was this combination that set it apart from the rest. It matches all-in-one printers double it's price for quality and I wondered how they could sell it this cheaply. I got it back home and set it up easily. You can either connect it to your PC via a USB cable or using the normal printer parallel port. I opted for the USB cable and seeing as I have windows XP, my computer recognised it straight away and installed it for me! The only manual bit of installing I had to do was install the software for this printer/scanner. This is also, very easy to set up and use, and everything you do on the printer shows upon the PC and vice versa and when the PC says that the printing is 70% complete, it really is, it isn't lying as is the case with some machines!
***PRINTER***
The printer is fantastic, better than my old standalone printer by far. It is an inkjet printer and is capable of producing 12 colour pages per minute or 17 b&w pages per minute!!! The maximum resolution for the printer is 4800x1200 dpi (dots per inch). You'll just have to trust me that this is very good for a printer of this price. I bought this printer 6 months ago, and I still haven't had a problem with it at all. I have done heaps of printing and it is only just informing me that the black ink catridge may need replacing soon.
***SCANNER***
The scanner is also as good as you would ever need it in a home environment. It can potentially scan up to 600x2400 dpi, and I say potentially because your PC must have the memory available to complete this request. The only problem I have with the scanner is that it's not very easy to tell where to rest the corner of the sheet of paper on the scanner bed although this is a petty problem. Maybe it's just me being dumb?
***COPIER***
All I can say about this is superb! One button is all you need to press to start immediately copying exactly what is on the scanner bed. There are, of course, more options than that. You can either select 'colour copy' or 'black copy' and you can also select the quality of the scan and print you would like although I'd say the default values are fine for the average user. You can also tell it to reduce or enlarge the size of the copy and set the number of copies.
Overall, this is a very worthy machine and it deserves to be in everyone's homes. I have not had a problem with it yet and it's so easy to use it's unbelievable.
Advantages: Stand alone copier, excellent resolution, FAX ready, excellent software and so easy to use Disadvantages: Expensive cartridges (can buy manual refill packs, though)
Behold the Lexmark 5150. In my opinion the best value All-in -one on the market. When i first got into PC's (about 15 years ago) the range of printers were, to say the least, few and far between, with the only option really being the dot matrix or having to hand write!! These beasts were very noisy and slow and had limited memory. Then along came inkjet (i know there was laser printing, but still too expensive for joe public)....vastly superior and ... ...efficient
· Elegant design
· Volume of ink indicator when printing
· Cost of cartridges around £28
· At the moment (12/03) free DVD offer
In my opinion, i won't need another printer for a long time and if i do change Lexmark will be my choice.
Excellent buy!! ...

Advantages: Produces great results, good software bundled Disadvantages: Expensive cartridges, large / bulky
...'photocopy' it for you. Very useful. There is no need to have a PC connected to the machine.
Overall the Lexmark X5150 is a good printer and scanner combination, however it is let down by the excessive cartridge prices and the fact that the machine is larger and bulky. ...

Advantages: Fast print speed Disadvantages: Ink is expensive, technical support could be improved
The Lexmark X5150 all in one device features a printer, scanner and copier all in one.
Print speed is fast - 19 pages per minute in black and 14 pages per minute in colour. In reality however this is about 10 pages per minute in black and 5 pages per minute in colour - which is still very fast when compared to similar all in one devices.
Photo printing with the X5150 is excellent, especially when printing on photo paper. Black text quality could ... ...having to open up the lexmark software when you want to perform a quick copy.
The all in one iteself is a bit on the large side therefore in my opinion it would be best suited in a large room or an office.
One negative comment I have on the X5150 is the technical support line. I must say that they were not particularly helpful and it can be improved.
I would definitely recommend the X5150 to potential buyers. ...

Advantages: does everything you need Disadvantages: Ink cartridges are not availabile in the superrmarkets yet
...word.
You get the usual lexmark control centre with the printer and as usual is very easy to use to adjust the various settings on the device. The one and only grip I have is that I cannot find the ink cartridges in the superrmarkets yet. I also live in the perpetual hope that someday a supplier will start to sell original lexmark (or any for that matter) ink cartridges at reasonable prices. ...

Advantages: Easy to use & good quality; make your life easy since you have printer, copier, scanner and fax in one machine. Disadvantages: Have to buy ink often if you always print photos; speed is not really fast, but it is okay for family daily life
I bought the Lexmark X5150 All-In-One a few weeks ago. I very much enjoy using it. I do not go to print shop to use their photocopy machines any more. With this ALl-In-One, you can make black or color copies as many as you want. Life is just easy. I am gald the All-In-One saves me a lot of time and money. I also enjoy using the scanner since I have a lot of hard copy photos that I would like to share with friends via emails. Lexmark in addition provides ...
