This ones another one of those great looking printer from Lexmark. Not only it is a printer, but its also an all in one, with a scanner and it can even handle stand alone copying, in colour and in black and white. Having an all in one, doesn’t only work out cheaper, but it also means you have so much more space on your desktop, as you don’t need space for a printer and a scanner, now you’ll just need space for this all in one printer. It also frees up a few extra USB ports and frees up power sockets, so altogether saving energy and money too.
This is a great choice for a home office, and as just a high spec home printer, this is due to its high speeds and its fantastic print quality. Fax, which is something somewhat outdated now its just easier to send emails is also a feature built into this machine, so if you do have a fax machine, then get it off your desktop, and get one of these on there. It might take a little shopping around, but you will be able to pick one of these up for just over £100, which is really cheap providing what it can do.
The design of this is great too. Its top section is easily lift able to reveal the A4 sized scanner which scans documents to images and saves them on your computer, you can scan things to email, however this took me a while to figure out so its probably easier to just scan to image and attach this is an email document. You can also scan to fax, if you have anyone to fax. And the great thing about this is that you really don’t need to have your computer switched on, simple at the touch of one button, you can photocopy anything that’s inside of the scanner at that time. This is really good as it saves a lot of time, waiting for the computer to load and its so much easier to do as well. The main colours are white and silver, both of which are my favourite colours in electrical goods. It has a sticking out control panel, this features all the buttons, and there are quite a lot of them on there, however you’ll hardly ever need to use them all if you just want to do simple copying and printing off your computer. It does also have a screen on this panel. However its not a photo screen, its just like the ones on those little calculators, which is good for seeing what’s happening on the printer. However if it did have a colour LCD screen it would be a lot better equipped for photo printing and being able to see your pictures before printing, so this is defiantly a bit of a let down.
However saying that, I still love how this printer looks, and performs. It prints super quick managing a maximum of 28 pages a minute of black and white, and around 22 pages a minute of colour printing. Also the text it prints is really clear and stands out really well against the paper. When printing photos, the first one I tried I was really disappointed in, however after performing a quick and simple cleaning session on the printer, I then printed it again to find it printed photos amazingly well too. The main reason not to get this would be its lack of the LCD screen, and this probably would put me off too, so what I really advise is to look for another Lexmark which is a similar price, but with a great LCD screen too, if you want it for photo printing. Id probably advise something like the Lexmark X8350, or the Lexmark X4850, however saying that, I do prefer the looks of this one, to the looks of them, and for me I would probably rather have this printer for its better print speeds and quality alone.
