This is a basicinkjet printer. Having said that, it costs less than replacement cartridges for most printers, so don't write it off too soon. It currently sells for £20 from the post office (which is incredible value) including a low capacity colour cartridge. It takes either low volume or high volume cartridges (depending on the depth of your pocket). It is possible to print with only the colour cartridge, but it will last much longer if you also get a black cartridge. The software needs to be told what you have fitted, but then it sorts out the printing. The colours look a bit faded compared to more expensive printers. Installation needs the supplied CD (even on Windows XP) and the registration process is a bit odd, as Lexmark does not offer the option of Z640 on their dropdowns! However, it feeds paper accurately, prints to an acceptably high resolution and goes fast enough for home use. For the price, you can't beat it!
