I was very surprised by the quality of print with this printer given its lowly price tag. At college we have access to many different printers, some of which are expensive and considered high quality. The Lexmark Z640, although quite sluggish, produces very decent printed documents. I find it impossible to tell the difference between documents printed at home, on the Z640, and those printed at college. You would not expect superb photo quality from a printer of this price range and you don't get it. However it does print colour documents reasonably well which is satisfactory for my own requirements.
You shouldn't have any difficulty getting started with this printer as set-up is laid out in easy to follow steps. Another good point about the Z640 is the paper feed which functions correctly. This is quite impressive as printers in the lower price bracket can (and most do) annoyingly shovel 10 sheets through with each request.
One major disappointment is the cost of replacement ink cartridges. You will struggle to purchase both colour and black cartridges for less than £30, which considering the price of the printer is rather expensive. However, if you plan on only moderate/general use you won't need replacement cartridges very often - I have found they last about six months which compares favourably with other printers I've owned.
The Z640 can be purchased for around £30 which makes it an excellent choice for anybody shopping on a budget. Overall, this is a nice little printer which offers a good standard of text print at a 'very' reasonable price.
