Advantages: Class. Just sheer class. Disadvantages: Nothing
around in cocooned luxury.
It has been given a major reworking, with a fresh and lively 4,293cc V8 engine with 32 valves, double twin camshafts, and 281bhp at only 5,600rpm.
I should also mention that it is kitted out with Toyota?s wonderful VVTi or variable valve timing, a system which had humble beginnings in the ?baby? Toyota, the highly popular Yaris, and is now fitted as standard to all the Toyota and Lexus line-up. VVTi does for the Lexus what it does for all Toyotas, ensuring an even spread of pulling power right through the rev range.
Even though the engine is larger than its 4.0 litre predecessor, it is also considerably lighter and more fuel-efficient. Lighter equates to faster, with a quoted 0 to 100kmh or 62mph of a mere 6.7 seconds, and fuel economy is given as 23mpg, a very acceptable return from such a large engine.

Advantages: Rarer and better than European Equivalents Disadvantages: Expensive to run, Brake disks warp every 6000 miles !!!
without doubt the smoothest luxury car I have ever owned, and I have owned a few, despite its lengthy wheelbase it goes around bends with aplomb, it has hight adjustable air suspension which can also switch between sport & comfort modes, the brakes are reasonably good (before they warp) but not quite up to Mercedes standards in terms of sheer stopping power
The engine is nothing short of a work of art, it is INCREDIBLY smooth, very powerful, and so darned quiet I have turned the ignition ON when the engine was already running several times !
When you put your foot down you begin to hear a beautiful yet subtle roar from this awesome powerplant, a 4.3 litre V8 which delivers smooth torque, rapidly propelling you along to scary speeds where the (warping) brakes are quickly needed to calm you down
I think 0-60 is achieved in 6 seconds quite ...
