Hi, I am a student from Germany at the moment studying at the Växjö University in Sweden. As I am supposed to write a Master Thesis, me and my group thought to write about market entry strategies of foreign food discounters. We started right away with doing research, writing a background and problemizing, ordering literature and asking Lidl for a contact person to ask our questions. We asked not only Lidl in Sweden, but also Lidl in Germany. Because the thesis is supposed to be ready before christmas, we worked on theory and waited for an positive or a negative answer. But nothing happened. After 3 weeks we finally got the answer, that Lidl does not work together with students. As if they could not have told us right away!!! So we had to start over with a new thesis...By acting like this, Lidl not only lost 3 customers forever, but also lost in this business area interested potential employees. This negative experience we distributed all over our universities, perhaps more students will read my opinion and think about writing a thesis at Lidl twice.
