Advantages: not the standard size, strong inside and out Disadvantages: machanically no better than a cheap fridge
This is an expencive fridge, Normally I would not spend over £500 on a larder fridge with no freezer but I needed a particular size fridge, not too tall but with a large capacity, and this one fitted exactly.
The fridge is very well made and well designed with clever use of space and lots of thought going into positioning the racks, shelves and bins. As you would expect all the shelves and door racks are adjustable.
The door has a strange ... ...but its been no problem at all and its now almost one year old.
The controls are almost non existant, just a quick cool switch and a temp adjuster. The fridge is ,as you might expect from a top of the range model self defrosting.
The outside finish is strong and well made and feels like it will stand a little punishment, the inside is easy to clean and again strongly made.
With modern fridges lasting years and years and this one ... more
This is an expencive fridge, Normally I would not spend over £500 on a larder fridge with no freezer but I needed a particular size fridge, not too tall but with a large capacity, and this one fitted exactly. The fridge is very well made and well designed with clever use of space and lots of thought going into positioning the racks, shelves and bins. As you would expect all the shelves and door racks are adjustable. The door has a strange semi-lever handle which I thought at first would not last but its been no problem at all and its now almost one year old. The controls are almost non existant, just a quick cool switch and a temp adjuster. The fridge is ,as you might expect from a top of the range model self defrosting. The outside finish is strong and well made and feels like it will stand a little punishment, the inside is easy to clean and again strongly made. With modern fridges lasting years and years and this one costing almost three times the price(£550) of a similar size cheap model I expected years of trouble free service, but to my amazment,no, after just nine months it developed a fault, and a serious one, everything in the fridge froze solid over night. It wasn't easy to track down the service number,it appears just once ,in small print on a single sheet tucked into the instructions and then the number was no longer in service and I had to ring a new one. Once I got through though there was no problem, all the units details are stored on a plate inside the fridge and all that was needed was for me to give those details and my address and the repair was handed on the a local enginer who soon came and replaced the failed parts. I dont like reviews that simply run down a product just because that particular item was faulty, clearly this product is high quality and 99 out of 100 probabilly give years of service, but you must ask your self is it worth three times the price for a fridge that CAN break down as quick or quicker than a cheap one? This unit has had a VERY light use, only my wife and I live here and we are both out at work all week!
Another couple of months and the garentee would have been up and id have been looking at a new fridge, even now I'm concerned that another breakdown may happen. Bottom line, A lovley fridge, very well made on the visual side, but is the machinery any better than a cheap fridge? seems perhaps not. A £150 fridge that breaks down after 1 or two years is bad but a £500+ fridge breaking down after 1 year is a disaster. I dont think I'll pay that sort of money for a fridge again.
