Review of Living Stones in the Household of God: The Legacy and Future of Black Theology - Linda E. Thomas by
frkurt
Advantages: Very interesting topics
Disadvantages: -
...' own professional focus is the integration of theology with anthropology, which combines the God-human relationship with human interrelationships in culture. Thomas states that `one might mistakenly think that black theology is concerned with the God-black human relationship in black culture only' - this is not the case, as the emphasis spreads out beyond the borders of the United States, beyond the boundaries of black culture, and seeks to address all black people everywhere in looking toward God-human relationship.
Along with Linda Thomas, contributors include `founding father' James H. Cone, Edward P. Antonio, Lee Butler, Iva E. Carruthers, M. Shawn Copeland, Dwight N. Hopkins, Yvonne Young-ja Lee, D. Stephen Long, Karen E. Mosby-Avery, Jim Perkinson, José David Rodriguez, Rosemary Radford Ruether, George E. Tinker, Emilie M...

Thomas covenant ............. compelling
Review of Chronicles of Thomas Covenant - Stephen Donaldson by
marmiladey
Advantages: A must read "saga"
Disadvantages: if you did not appreciate lord of the ring this may not be for you
...I have read and re-read the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. They are superb.!
With a good imagination becoming a part of the adventure is not difficult.
I found myself in an emotinal bind. Wishing for a reprieve from his self destruction..... and gradually understanding the parodox of the two worlds which madfe demands on him, that drew from both courage and human frailty, from the depths of his being.
The two worlds were equally brutal to his emotional well being. One world ..... the world he considered to be real, spurned and made an out cast of him. He had devolped Leprosy , lost his wife and son because of it. He lives like a recluse. Ridiculing his life , his social standing , books he had written, weighed down somewhat by the physical loss of two fingers on his left hand, wearing his wedding ring of white gold that he...

The Bone Vault - Linda Fairstein
Review of The Bone Vault - Linda Fairstein by
micksheff
Advantages: An interesting read
Disadvantages: A little bit gory in places
...The Bone Vault written by Linda Fairstein is the latest book that I have just read. I have not read any of this Author's previous works although I was aware that the predecessor to this novel, the Deadhouse, was an International best seller.
This book fits neatly into the category of crime fiction but the authenticity of how Met Assistant DA Alexandra Cooper handles the crimes in this gripping story is what sets this book apart from many books on a similar theme that I have read. This may have something to do with the fact that the Author of this work, Linda Fairstein is America's foremost prosecutor of crimes, specialising in the area of sexual assault and domestic violence. Linda Fairstein has run the Sex Crimes Unit of the District Attorney's Office in Manhattan for more than 20 years, and it is without a doubt that in this book...
