Initial thoughts on receiving the monitor where that it was a simple CCTV baby monitor with Sound and colour CCTV with infra-red night vision. It appeared to be well constructed out of tough material and the instructions simple and easy to follow.

As we began top use the monitor we quickly discovered that it had many other attributes. The clarity of the CCTV screen is excellent in both the colour and the night vision and not blurry or grainy, granted for the £120 rrp we where not expecting superior quality "surveillance" equipment however we where not expecting the quality that we found on using the Clarity, it is excellent. We quickly found lots of other thoughtful details, rechargeable batteries in the handheld monitor with a good long battery life, we find that if you place it on charge during the night when you go to bed, it easily has enough power to last the full day after. The various modes of normal: this being where you can hear the sound and see the CCTV image on the monitor - the problem being that you hear the background white noise when the monitor is activated...Any baby quieter that an angel baby gets drowned out by the white background noise....however....The Dogs and cats are memorised by it! The only downsides we found where very very minor but bear a quick mention:

1) The large red light on the camera when it's switched on tells you it's operating but we found that our daughter can happily spend an hour memorised by it rather than sleeping (The joys of gaffer tape solved this)

2) The wall mount and the power connection for the camera can restrict its angle that the camera can point when wall mounted vertically.

3) If it had a thermometer it would be the perfect all round monitor!

All in we found this to be excellent value for the money and I have no doubt that it will be in use all the way up to my daughters toddler years. We where worried as this is our first child about moving her cot from our room but the camera very quickly allays those fears, just for the piece of mind the CCTV option over the standard noise only monitor is worth the additional £50 for the 5+ years that it will be in use for.
