We already have 2 stairgates in our house but one of them has broken and although my son is now 2 1/2 years old I really feel that we still need one by our living room door as it leads into the kitchen and I want to keep my son safe especially when I am cooking.

Inside the box is a white metal stairgate which has a blue handle , a manual, a leaflet so you can order spare parts ,a box with :-
The manual is a 7 page leaflet which has instructions and pictures on how to fit the stairgate.
This stairgate is a pressure fit so no need for drilling or screws but it does come with screws and wall caps if you wish to use them especially on the stairs.
The great thing about this stairgate is all you need to do is push the screw adjuster rings into the holes at each corner of the gate then just place the gate where you want it to go tighten up the screw adjusters on the tops and bottoms of the gate and it is ready to be used.
To open the gate
The manual says you can do this with one hand! You press the 2 buttons and lift the lever in one go I have tried doing this with one hand and yes it can be done but it is very tricky when you are trying to carry stuff such as dishes..
To close the gate
You line up the gate with the frame and push the handle down until it clicks.

The gate can open both ways
It will fit door openings between 75 and 81cm - you can buy extensions so that it can fit up to 137cm
It has a double locking mechanism
What do I think? This stairgate is very easy to fit and is very very secure even when my son is trying his hardest to try and open it. It says on the box that it is suitable up till the child is 2 years old I think this is because once they get to a certain age they will try and climb the stairgate we currently don`t have this problem but will obviously keep an eye on things.

...leapt out at me. The Lindam Easy Fit Plus Gate came ready- assembled and cost just £ 19.99. It looked quite stylish plus I had heard of Lindam before. The decision was made and off I went to my local Argos.

What can I say ? It came in a large, flat, brown cardboard box. When I saw that it was flat, it was obvious that the claim that it came ready- assembled was a true one. There was a hole in the box for your hand, which ... ...pads or screws provided. However, Lindam do recommend using them if the gate is to be a permanent fixture.
Overall, I would say 10 out of 10 for ease of fitting.

Very stylish indeed ( if a safety gate can be called stylish ! ) The main body of the gate is white, while the handle, hinges and locking rings are all sky blue. White and sky blue are lovely colours and so familiar. Maybe a certain football team wears those colours... ...

...137cm with a combination of Lindam extensions). I did find this abit big for my kitchen door and I was lucky that it fitted where i needed the second gate to go so a good reminder that not all gates fit doors please measure before buying one as I didnt thinking all gates fit ha ha.
This gate also is the winner of Mother & Bay and two Prima Baby awards.
As i said I bought from argos price was 19.99 which I thought was good enough for it purpose ...

...settled on one of these Lindam Easy Fit Plus Gates for the bottom of my stairs, and I chose a different one for the top. I was rather restricted in choice of safety gates due to the width of my staircase being rather larger than average. I chose this gate because it fitted within my price range, was wide enough for the gap and looked like it was going to be simple to use, combined with it being the winner of various baby safety awards, I decided ... ...- I purchased two gates together from Toys R Us, this one was £21.99 and the other a few pounds cheaper. Toys R Us have been running a special offer for some time that gives you a discount of £5 if you purchase two safety gates, so I was able to get a discount on that price. The gate comes pretty much assembled, you just have to place the pressure pads on threaded metal in the four corners of the gate, then pop it in place and adjust and tighten ...

...and eventually we chose the Lindam easy fit plus gate. This came ready assembled, in it's own very unique cardboard box!! (as does most stuff these days, but great fun for little ones to then play in) and was also voted Winner of Mother & Bay and two Prima Baby awards. So we thought we couldn't really go wrong there.
So now armed with 2 gates, one for the top of the stairs and one for the bottom, we headed home to attach them.
So why did we chose ... ...price at £19.99 we couldn't argue, it was a white metal gate that we thought would stand the test of time and wouldn't look out of place in the house,
The second was with the bars on the gate my cats could still reach their basket at the top of the stairs, (I know to some people that isn't really important)
The third was that they were easy to fit without having to screw holes into the walls (very important when you live in military accomadation)

...painfully on it. It is a very narrow opening.
