Firstly, I should mention that the make of this gate is LINDAM and not LINDEM as it is spelt in the category listing.
I have safety gates everywhere in my house. 1 at the kitchen door, 1 at the bottom of the stairs and one at jack's bedroom door (he gets up before 6am and trashes the whole top floor of the house!).
I already had various different gates lying around from when the older kids were toddlers. These ranged from fairly modern ones to ancient ones that you need 42 inch legs to climb over without doing yourself an injury!
I decided to get a couple of new gates and get rid of the older ones. I had a look through the Argos catalogue, as it's pretty reliable and reasonable for items like this. They have quite a large range of gates for sale at a range of different prices.
After looking, I decided on this one. It had everything I was looking for..i wouldn't ruin my chances of a future family climbing over it...it looked very safe and over all it looked very easy to operate.
The cost of this gate was £19.99 which was about what I hoped to pay.
It's made of white coloured metal. The locking mechanism and fittings are all in a pleasant blue plastic. So it looks quite nice.
The gate comes in a large flat (and pretty heavy) box. The main part of the gate is intact, with the fittings etc being seperate.
The main reason I bought this gate was the fact that it opens both ways and closes when pushed or slammed, but is difficult for kids to open again.
When I got this gate home and took out of it's box, I was pleasantly surprised. There was considerably less than hundreds of pieces, as is usual with most things you buy in a flat box. And the instructions seemed pretty clear.
As I mentioned earlier, the bulk of the gate was intact. there was a seperate bag in the box containing the fittings that attach to the wall, screws and raw plugs.
Fitting the gate was pretty easy (i believe). I didn't actually fit it myself, my partner did and it only took him 5-10 mins. As far as I know he drilled 4 holes - 2 top and 2 bottom and fixed the gate on with the screws and plugs provided.
The gate itself does have the usual screw along mechanism to adjust the width.
Once fitted, the gate is opened by pressing quite firmly on the underside of the top part. As I said earlier, it opens both ways which I think is a great fearture as you could put it almost anywhere.
I have also trained my toddler to close this gate once he gets to the top of the stairs. He loves slamming it shut and it's a good habit for him to get into. Once closed, it would be very difficult for a toddler or small child to be able to apply the type of pressure needed to open it again.
In all I'd highly recommend this gate. It's easy to use, easy to fit and makes an easy job of keeping little ones safe.
