INTRO
A couple of years ago I went amp shopping. Or more specifically I went into a guitar shop and just started playing some amps. I spotted a lovely little amp as soon as I walked into the shop and for some reason it caught my attention. I read the label; "Line6Spider112 - WAS £280, NOW £230"
A bargain, I thought.
So I asked to play it. He kindly plugged me in, brought me a guitar and a stool and away I went. I fell in love with it within 10 minutes. I tried all the settings and was amazed at what I could get out of it. Not long after another clerk walked over to me, "Sorry mate, that price tag is wrong." Bugger! I knew it was too good to be true, "It's actually only £200 now." BANG! Down went the deposit, "I'll be back next week to pick it up."
And to this day I still get sexually aroused every time I crank that ...

Advantages: Digital effects, sound quality Disadvantages: Delay function
The Line6Spider is very simply the best emulation combo amp in the £400 range. It not only has a ton of on-board effects(which I will discuss later), but the sound quality that you get from this little 100W kicker is amazing. It has2x10" speakers, a footswitch input (footswitch/floorboard sold separately), and the usual inputs and sends.
The effects on this are unparalleled. Usually on effects-based amps, the effect quality is second rate, but not here. It has a tape echo, flanger, delay, chorus, and many types of overdrive and distortion, all in 4 channels that featuring varying preset conditions. You can also save particular effects settings for instant recall. The cool thing about this amp is the tap button. It's a small round button that you tap twice, and the speed with which you tap it sets the delay, or the tape echo ...
Advantages: Brilliant Features and Sound Quality, well worth the money. Disadvantages: Handle and knobs not very versatile.
The Line6Spider III 210 is a 120 watt solid state amp with two 10" speakers, that comes complete with 12 different amp models, reverb, and 6 built in effects. Becoming available for purchase in 2006, I bought this amp for £210 from www.guitarampkeyboard.com in 2007 and haven't looked back since. It has over 350 pre set sounds (most of which are artist designed) you will find little need to altering the knobs. I play a Jackson DK2L through this amp and the sound is unbeatable in any other amp, of course this is more a metal amp than anything however you can get some really nice blues and clean sounds out of it. As for the transportability side, I was taking it to a gig and the strap broke meaning i had to carry the amp from the bottom the rest of the way.
