The Linksys SRW208MP WebView managed switch brings a whole new level of intelligence and security to the network infrastructure. The combination of its intelligence and small size make it ideal for a conference room or training room where security and uptime are important. It offers a two Gigabit copper or optical interfaces for connection to a core switch. For Wireless or VoIP deployments, the SRW208MP supports IEEE802.3af standard for Power over Ethernet. With automatic load sensing, the power control circuitry automatically detects Power over Ethernet on end-device before providing power. Power feeding of Ethernet limited for fixed 10/100 Base-T/TX ports. The solution can provide maximum output power per PoE port up to 15.4W on all 8 ports simultaneously. Independent overload and short-circuit protection for each port. LED indicators for power status per PoE port. Network security is a top priority in any size business. Most business data networks, large and small, are unsecured. Unauthorized access to the network and mission critical data is a constant concern. The SRW208MP is able to secure the network through 802.1X port authentication and MAC Filtering. 802.1X requires client to authenticate themselves before the port will pass data. Businesses are recognizing the benefits of doing Voice over IP VoIP and arequickly migrating their voice services to IP based platforms, requiring their local area networks to support both voi

The switch offers two Gigabit copper or optical interfaces for connection to a core switch. For wireless or voice over IP (VoIP) deployments, the Cisco SRW208P supports the IEEE 802.3af standard for Power over Ethernet (PoE). Automatic load sensing automatically detects Power over Ethernet on the end device before providing power. The switch can provide maximum output power per PoE port up to 15.4W on four ports or 7.5W per PoE port on eight ports simultaneously. Each port has independent overload and short-circuit protection, with LED indicators for power status. Network security is a top priority in any size business. Advantages: Easy to set up, configure and use Disadvantages: None
ideal if you dont have racks to mount larger switches or the space to store them. It is also handy in our aspect as we can quickly provide multiple PCS in a room to be networked from one wall socket.
It is also good to have as an emergency system should your larger switches fail. It is fully portable and robust so can handle being moved around.
The price?
Well, its not much cheaper than a 24 port Rack mounted switch. About £110 for this model but they also provide an 8portswitch as well slightly cheaper.
Overall?
A great investment for us and something i can recommend to anyone considering a small network. ...
Advantages: Advantages: Cheap, all in one solution Disadvantages: No manual overide or audio support
stops autoscanning and lets you use the currently selected PC.
The Belkin claims support for scrolling mice but I did find sometimes one PC would start up without recognising this facility if it wasn't the currently selected one when booting up and in extreme cases, wouldn't recognise the keyboard and mouse at all. Previous KVM's I've used send the PC fake 'There's a keyboard and mouse here' messages when not selected and it seems this unit does not, which is a pity.
Conclusion
The Belkin 2 port KVM is a well built unit that works nicely and provides a great way to save desk space and the cost of a second monitor, keyboard and mouse. The long leads are useful and despite the niggles with scrolling mice and the lack of manual switch. I'd say this unit is worth considering at this price if you can live with those shortcomings ...
Advantages: Fun game for many Disadvantages: Only when you lose
The basic method of playing Switch is the same the world over,
although the choice of penalty cards does vary and in doing so
causes untold confusion. I understand that this game has other
names but I don't know what they are.
Switch is a unique game, in that it doesn't follow the whist
or rummy format, nor is it a variation of poker or brag. Any
number can play but if there will be more than about 8
players, an extra pack of cards must be used. Whether the
extra pack of cards has the same design on the back as the
first pack, is irrelevant. The speed of the game is such, that
there shouldn't be time to work out the probability of a
player holding a particular card, based on the difference in
the back of the card.
I have played Switch as man and boy for nigh on half a century
and it makes a nice change from ...
