The Linksys Dual-Band Wireless A/G Media Center Extender lets you bring the digital entertainment available through and stored on your Windows Media Center PC to your Home Entertainment Center, without running cables through the house. Using a Wireless-A, Wireless-G, or wired Ethernet connection, the Media Center Extender displays home-made or downloaded digital movies and your digital photographs on the TV for the whole family to enjoy. And your digital music collection is finally freed from those little computer speakers and can play in full glory through your stereo system. You can also watch and pause live TV shows, or record them digitally for later viewing. Finding something to watch is easy with the free on-screen program guide. The Media Center Extender sits by your home stereo and television and connects to them using standard consumer electronics cables. Then it connects to your home network by Wireless-A or Wireless-G networking, or if you prefer, it can be connected via standard 10/100 Ethernet cabling. Advantages: The media center interface, decent codec support, HD movies stream really well. Disadvantages: The DVD player is terrible.
...Okay, the big pull of this DVD player is the built in MediaCenterExtender software, which once set up runs really well. You need to have vista installed on a PC (which needs to be on for it to work) and you also need a good network connection between the two. I have tried both a 200mbps powerline ethernet network and a wireless N network and for me the wireless network performed better for HD movies, but this will differ for most people so just make sure you arn't relying on a bog standard 54mbps wifi connection.
The built in DVD play is poor to say the least, it doesn't scale DVD's out to widescreen it simply takes the DVD's basic resolution and outputs it to the middle of the screen. I tried watching an old cracker and had to stop as it was displayed as a 640x480 picture in the middle of my 720p HDTV, believe me this looks...

Advantages: Stream all your media files to your tv Disadvantages: Server software is a bit flaky

You connect it to your tv (using the variety of sockets on the back...surely one of which will suit your AV set up) and then power it on. All being well, you will be able to run the onboard wizard that lets you set up you wireless network details.

Go back to your PC and install that darned Sever Software. While you're there...check your wireless router and make sure its within a working range of your new player.
