Advantages: Fast speeds, Reliable, Stylish Disadvantages: I had wireless problems, Gets a bit warm, no restart router option in config
The Linksys WAG160NN300 is an ADSL2+ wireless modem router, meaning it has a a modem built in. It is for use with BT Internet connections rather than for use with a Cable broadband connection (i.e. Virgin) although a Cable version is also available. It?s an ADSL2 router, which means it supports the newer ADSL standard, which could mean faster transfer speeds although this really depends on your line quality, distance from Exchange, service with ISP, etc. The router currently costs £74.99 from PC World but a bit less at £59.99 on their website. I bought mine about 8 months ago on Ebuyer for around £55.
IN THE BOX
You receive two ADSL filter
s, RJ11 cable, user manual, manual and software CD, power adapter and lastly, the router itself.
THE ROUTER ITSELF
One thing I quite like about the router is that it looks quite ...
Advantages: reliable, cheap for its functionality, fast, stylish, clever, easy to use, versatile Disadvantages: none
This product is fantastic. I had no problems setting it up. Instant connection, has 1 wan port, 4 lan ports, 3 wireless aerials, and a power input. It has a massive range even through walls. My connection isnt fast enough to eve get close to the 100+ mbs this bad boy can produce. This router is awesome. Doesnt break, easy set up. Massive range, from a respected company. Wide support, and upgrade in firmware has fixed the bugs. I thought this product might be faulty when i got it, was a little worried, but this blew my expectations out the window. Featuring n, g, b and a connections means it a so versatile, i can have 4 connections all on different waves. I recommend this product to anyone who wants a reliable router that can produce an amazing connection that doesnt fail you. Buy this router it is reliable, cheap for its functionality ...
Advantages: Highly configurable Disadvantages: That bloody light
The Netgear Rangemax Dual-bandWireless-NRouter WNDR3300 ? phew, there, I?ve said it.
In reality, it?s a smart gloss black and silver slab about the size of a paperback with lots of pretty lights, the more of these that flash the cleverer you are ? a maxim I?ve stuck by ever since dial-up modems!.
What, you mean you want more? Give me strength ? it?s only a bit of computer kit, get a grip.
OK, OK, here goes.
My existing Linksyswireless-g router has given sterling service for several years, although just lately the mains unit has started smelling funny (or is it ?cos I use it to warm my bare feet?).
A friend mentioned that she?d bought this ?Netgear thingy? by mistake, and being a perfick gennelmun, I offered to buy it off her, and before you ask, no, not for a knock-down fee. So why was it the wrong bit of kit for her broadband ...
