Advantages: Cheap, Easy Install, Fast Connection, 4 ports

...I decided to write this review today, after helping a friend of mine choose what type of router to go for. Having had only two routers in my lifetime, I'm not the biggest technicality whiz, but I know enough stuff to get me going. After my first router (A mentor, which by the way, you shouldn't buy) broke, I needed a new. I'd heard a lot of praise about Linksys routers. And the praise was true to it's word. The router packs the following statistics, which may mean more to some of you that others, but listed her for simplicities sake when you read reviews on it. Built in Modem. Advantages: Low cost, small size, low-power consumption. Very hackable for those of you who like to get more out of your toys.
Disadvantages: Cabling can become a bit of a rats nest. Requires an external USB harddrive.

...I have owned an NSLU2 Storage Unit for about 1 year now. I used it out of the box as standard for about 2 months before deciding to hack it. Mainly due to its instability. I then modified my unit to run at double speed and not only serve as a network storage device but also to run a simple web server and MP3 streaming server. NOTE: Hacking this device is not for the faint hearted! This kit runs Lynux and hacking it requires you to be confident working with Lynux. It is more than possible to turn this kit into a £50 door wedge if you play and mess up! Advantages: Could hold up to 300 GB of storage
Disadvantages: The only one is standing it somewhere, not maxtors fault

...simple. This is the best storage system that I have ever bought and would recommend it to all who need to save vital work. My daughter is an artist and saves all of her work from corel and photoshop on this too.
