Advantages: Good range, small and easy to install, good documentation Disadvantages: Software package very slim but if used with Linux the bluetooth modules available have powerful built in features such as chat and bluetooth kernel.

I have been wanting a Bluetooth adapter for quite a while now as it was a real pain putting mp3's onto my phone through irda on my dad's laptop, up to half an hour a song! So when I recieved my toy as you can imagine I was very eagure to get going...
This was all very easy as you can imagine, just pop the cd in the drive auto start launches setup and you select the install directory etc etc then it gives you the option to plug in the adapter to install the rest of the files which i did and it alll went very smoothly. Ease of installation: 4/5
With it being a class 1 bluetooth device it has up to a 100metre range and it pretty much does just that. I haven't tested it fully at 100m but it works pretty much around my house and garden which is what i expect most people will need range wise and obviously certain things can affect the range like interference etc and the position of the adapter in your house. Real world range you can probably expect 80m at the most which isn't bad at all and if that is not enough and your not bothered about your warranty or just feeling generous a quick bit of Google-ing around can find you informationa nd guides on how to mod it to have a far better aerial increasing range to unbeleivable distances for such a small device.
Well I have said that the range is all good but I think that the thing that lets it down in this area is the software, this might be a problem with the generic bluetooth support in XP but hey i'm sure if the put some thought into it Cisco could of engineered some drivers that would be a bit better. The main problem I have is that I bought it with the notion of being able to send files to my comp off my phone from anywhere in my house but the problem being that to actually send a file to my computer I have to click recieve file on the bluetooth icon thus I am not able to be away from my computer and send files. Obviously this might not affect people just using it for bluetooth printers or setting up a PAN between another computer that much and it doesn't affect me that much as I am rating as a good product but it just niggles me abit. One way I have found to get around this is to use Linux if your on a PC as the bluetooth modules are far better and have loads more features such as bluetooth chat or if you are using a Mac you will find the support in OSX way better with options such as "Accept all incoming files automatically" where as there is no such thing in XP. Also one other good thing about using OSX is that it actually tells you the speed at which a file is transferring which is useful, this does not appear in XP or Linux as far as I know. Features: 3/5 (if using XP, 5/5 on everything else) Perfomance: 5/5
Anyway after my little software rant lets move on to Value For Money.
************************************** VALUE FOR MONEY **************************************
I purchased this for just over £26 from Novatech.co.uk which I do not consider to be a bad price as there are many other class 2 adapters selling for around the same price. Considering how much people spend on there computers and acessories now days £26 is not really that much if you think you will use it regulary.
Overall: 4/5 - Good product, easy to install, reliable and farely cheap but software could be improved(XP-wise anyway)
Advantages: Very neat. USB option brings greater flexiblity Disadvantages: Not much of a conversation piece
sticking out of the back, which of course means that the said protrusion will be at the back of your PC once installed!
Then there is the version more suited to laptops, which comes as a PCMCIA-format card, inserted into the expansion slot on the side of the laptop. These tend to have a built-in aerial and stick out slightly from the side of the PC.
Thirdly, there is the option I chose, which is an external USB-connected device on the end of a wander lead. This gives a certain degree of extra flexibility ? firstly it is compatible with any USB-equipped PC, laptop or desktop, and secondly, the lead gives you the option of positioning the aerial away from the PC slightly, possible up on a wall, should transmission quality become an issue.
The particular wireless adapter that I purchased was the Linksys Wireless USB NetworkAdapter (WUSB11 ...
Advantages: small, attractive, easy to set up Disadvantages: doesn't work with 64 bit operating systems, not as fast as 'Speed Booster' implies.
. For love nor money will this device set up on that machine. On my sons Vista PC (32 bit) it runs no problem but it just won't install on the 64 bit version. Prior to having Vista 64 I also had Windows XP 64 and it didn't run on that either. So owners of 64 bit operating systems, look elsewhere for a networkadapter. I'm not sure whether Linksys have done anything about this problem recently but they hadn't provided any updates the last time I checked.
When used on my sons machine, it works fine. Connection is smooth (though not as fast as you'd expect) and uninterupted. It has two little green LCD's on the front which indicate a power supply and the connectivity.
The device connects via USB and is USB 2 capable. It will work happily with USB 1.1 as well though. Physically, the device is about 2 inches by 4 inches and about .5 of an inch ...
Advantages: Small, strong signal, styligh looks Disadvantages: A little clumsy and obtrusive
This is a review of the Linksys Wireless N USB adapter. Following my review of the Linksys wireless N router I thought I?d follow it up with the other component that makes the system complete!
So what?s this then?
------------------------
This is a USB adaptor for laptops and PC?s that connects to the wireless network in your home or at work and allows you to access the internet, email, download stuff etc. (even post more reviews on Ciao!)
What?s different about this?
----------------------------------
Wireless N is the new upgraded wireless protocol to wireless G. The range and spped is increased so when you?re sat upstairs with your laptop or in the garden, the signal will be faster and stronger. Wireless N is much more adapted to travelling through walls and obstacles. The download speed is also up to 12 times faster ...
