Manufacturer's product description
RangeBooster technology is a compatible add-on to standard Wireless-G, which increases your wireless network's range up to two times, and its throughput by up to 35%. Unlike ordinary wireless technologies that are confused by signal reflections, RangeBooster uses two smart receivers at each end to detect and decode reflected signals at distances where standard technologies give up. You'll find that "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area are reduced, too. The Advanced security features make this solution ideal for your business. Advanced wireless security using Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA2 Enterprise) with up to 256-bit encryption, and the Wireless Security Monitoring functionality gives your business the visibility and protection it needs. The Wireless Security Monitoring functionality alerts you of possible wireless intruders, vulnerabilities in the wireless deployment, and visibility into Denial of Service attacks. The Linksys WAP200 Access Point lets you connect Wireless-G (802.11g) or Wireless-B (802.11b) devices to your wired network so you can add PCs to the network with no cabling hassle. Power over Ethernet support makes it easy to install - you can mount the Access Point anywhere, even without ready access to a power plug. With appropriate Power Over Ethernet support at the other end, you only need to run one cable to the Access Point to deliver both data and power. Of course, you can also use the included AC adapter if your installation point has power available nearby. Moreover, the integrated QoS features provide consistent voice and video quality on both the wired and wireless networks, enabling the deployment of business quality VoIP and video applications. Additional features like Multiple BSSIDs, Wireless Roaming, Auto-channel selection, and Load Balancing, make this solution ideal for your business.
Advantages: New faster wi-fi standard. Easy to set-up Disadvantages: None specific to Linksys, but wi-fi HAS to less secure than a wired LAN
...Just when you thought I’d gone soft, writing about interesting things like travel, here’s another one of my computer hardware jobs to bring you back to earth.
Unlike ‘Two Sheds Jackson’, who was only thinking of getting two sheds, I’ve actually got three PCs, all of which are networked, two by being hard-wired to a broadband router and the third on the far end of a ‘wi-fi’ link down in the stygian depths of my house, or the dining room as it’s sometimes known.
My existing networking kit, also supplied by Linksys took care of all the shared access to the Telewest broadband internet service and any file and printer sharing that I may have set up between my PC, thus the main hub of this kit used to go under the lengthy title of ‘combined broadband router/switch/wirelessaccesspoint’.
WHY I UPGRADED – AS IF I NEEDED A REASON...

Advantages: Easy to use, good extension Disadvantages: Website hard to find help on
...This is a Lynksys Wireless-Grange extender. It is for a network, whether home or office, that needs more reach on it that save the hassel of buying more routers.
This Range extender from Linksys is a very useful piece of kit. Was very easy to set up (once I typed the correct MAC address into my gateway) and provides the range I need to go over about 30 metres and through several big thick brick walls.
I was having trouble with just my router so i turned to the internet and this is what i found. I combined it with a new antenna on my PC and my signal is now 5 bars! Much better than a half of one!
The Wireless-GRange Expander is compatible with the LinksysWAP54GAccessPoint, and both the WRT54G and WRT54GS Wireless Routers. It works with both Wireless-G and Wireless-B clients so you'll get the benefits of increased coverage...

Advantages: easy to set up, good range. Disadvantages: a bit sensitive
...I bought one of these accesspoints for work because of the two aerial functionality. These aerials work in one of two ways, either diversity where they both send and recieve and can tell which aerial has the best signal to you and uses that, and simplex where one aerial sends and one receives and one sends and you have to have a good signal on both for the system to work.
the diversity system makes it more flexible and we have a larger aerial on an extension on one of the RP TNC aerial connectors, this covers our manufacturing area, and one standard aerial which covers our office space. this works well and extends the range and thus the value for money of this unit.
the advantage however using the aerials simplex is that in situations like an office with a good signal to both aerials one sending and one receiving cuts down...
