Advantages: Easy to use, fast, easy to install Disadvantages: May be prone to damage
The Wireles-G USB Adapter is an excellent product, and does exactly what it was designed for with the minimum of fuss or complexity.
On first look, you'd say it looks rather like a slightly chunky flash drive, but it's way more effective than that. It can be used to connect a PC or laptop to a local network, directly to another computer or, probably most commonly, to a wireless router for broadband internet access. It is connected, as you'd expect from the name, to a USB port
Depending on your view, the fact it's external to the computer can be viewed as a plus or a negative. On the plus side, it's handy if you're using for more than one computer, however on the negative side, I expect there's a much greater chance of damage due to dropping, spillages etc.
The connection is capable of incredibly fast connection speeds (certainly as ...

LINKSYSWIRELESS-G BROADBAND ROUTER (WRT54G)
As you?ll see, they?ve streamlined the name of these things in the last year or so! This is a typical Linksys job to look at, being of a common corporate stackable design about the size that modems used to be, with a couple of ?1st generation? rubber cell-phone antennae sticking out of the back. This one doesn?t quite have the full array of pretty lights that its predecessor had, but this has enabled then to make it a lower profile than my old one.
Its power comes from the usual outboard mains adapter, enabling the Cisco, the parent company to supply more or less the same equipment worldwide. The only other accessory supplied, apart from the installation disk is the extra bit of networking cable you?ll need ? I?ll explain ...
Advantages: Looks, price, reliablity, setup, functionality, ease of use Disadvantages: None found so far
they had available.
I saw a couple of NetGears, of which there are really very mixed reviews on their equipment. If you get a 'good' one, then it will serve you well, as mine previously did. Others - people have complete nightmares with.
Being the sort of person I am, I fancied a change.
I then came across the Linksys WAG200G. Looking at the specifications on the box, I could see all my basic requirements were covered. ADSL modem, with 4 port switch, wireless to G standards ( 54mbps ).
I hand over the debit card.... deals done.
I got home, and started to unpack my new purchase, even though I obviously saw what it looked like at the store, and on the box, I was quite surprised when I started to remove the contents from the box. The router is very well designed, very sleek looking and fits beautifully with my 'modern ...
The Linksys Wireless-G Internet Home Monitoring Camera sends live video through the Internet to a web browser anywhere in the world! This compact, self-contained unit lets you keep track of your home, your kids, your workplace - whatever's important to you.Unlike standard "web cams" that require an attached PC, the Internet Home Monitoring Camera contains its own web server, so it can connect directly to a network, either over Wireless-G (802.11g) networking, or over 10/100 Ethernet cable. Choose either MPEG-4 or Motion JPEG video compression for a high-quality, high-framerate, up to 640x480 video stream. The Compact Internet Home Monitoring Camera's unique form-factor and wireless connectivity allows you to mount it on a wall nearly anywhere, or slip it into its included stand for desktop use. Once it's connected to your home network, you can "see what it sees" from any PC in the house, while the video stream is secured from the outside world, hidden behind your Router. You can also turn on Security Mode, which tells the camera to send a message with a short video attached to up to three email addresses whenever it detects motion in its field of view. You can then log onto the live video stream if the situation warrants. The included Viewer & Recorder utility lets you record the audio/video stream to your local hard drive, "live" or on a predetermined schedule.
