Advantages: Very Small, wall mountable, good setup wizard Disadvantages: Some technical jargon in initial setup
Physically it is about the size of 2 cigarette packets side by side. However that is where the similarity stops, this is far more useful.
I upgraded as my previous routers wireless encryption was limited to WEP only, which I was informed was not very secure.
Thus the interesting specifications as I see it are:
The very small size and wall mountable option, although I had to tweak the mount as the intended screws must have a very small and flat head.
4 Ethernet ports for wired computers and a wireless network supporting 802.11b and g standards.
Built in Antennae thus nothing to attract little hands! In fact the only things protruding are the power and modem cables, very neat.
Wireless encryption includes 128 bit WEP, 128 bit WPA and 128 bit WPA-2, there are various choices to flavour these, which I wont mention as I do ...

LINKSYSWIRELESS-GBROADBANDROUTER (WRT54G)
As you?ll see, they?ve streamlined the name of these things in the last year or so! This is a typical Linksys job to look at, being of a common corporate stackable design about the size that modems used to be, with a couple of ?1st generation? rubber cell-phone antennae sticking out of the back. This one doesn?t quite have the full array of pretty lights that its predecessor had, but this has enabled then to make it a lower profile than my old one.
Its power comes from the usual outboard mains adapter, enabling the Cisco, the parent company to supply more or less the same equipment worldwide. The only other accessory supplied, apart from the installation disk is the extra bit of networking cable you?ll need ? I?ll explain ...

Manufacturer's product description
The Linksys Wireless-G Router for 3G/UMTS Broadband is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect both screaming fast Wireless-G (802.11g at 54Mbps) and Wireless-B (802.11b at 11Mbps) devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Connect four PCs directly, or attach more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a 3G/UMTS or GPRS Internet connection (requires Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/UMTS data card, available separately). You can also use a standard Ethernet attached Internet connection, like a cable or DSL modem, if available.Once your computers are connected to the Router and the Internet, they can communicate with each other too, sharing document files, a printer, storage space, and other resources. To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G Router for 3G/UMTS Broadband can encode all wireless LAN transmissions with WEP or industrial-strength WPA personal encryption. The Router can serve as a DHCP server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. With the Wireless-G Router for 3G/UMTS Broadband, you can create a secure wireless network with Internet connectivity, anywhere that 3G/UMTS or GPRS service is available.
