Advantages: Perfection in every way. Shame it dosnt make you a cuppa tea also :-) Disadvantages: The price would be seen as a little steep. But well worth it.

Ease of Installation Well, this is not hard to get wrong, from opening the product its clearly marked on the adaptor to run the cd first. Then it prompts you to plug the adaptor into your USB port.
Now, you can ether use the software designed for the adaptor or let windows manage your wireless connection. I'm not sure about windows 2000 but for xp, it saves the login to access the network & auto connects you when you turn your pc on. Very handy if you have kids who use the net allot.
Compatibility To be honest, I have not had any problems with the product what so ever.
Version/Model
This is a WUSB54G-S This has the speed booster. This is handy if your pc is located on the other side of your home. The weaker the signal, the more unstable your connection will be. Any signal lower than 45% is prone to disconnections on high traffic loads.
WUSB54G This model does not have the speed booster. However because I own both the 45G, 45G-S & 45G-R I put them all threw there paces. Even though the 54G-S has speed boost, It's signal to my modem which is in the next room to me at 87% coming from a NetGear Wireless Router. However when connecting the 45G, the signal strength was 99%. So, in my opinion. If your modem is close to your pc. The 54G would be great for signal quality. However if its far away, like more than 2 rooms away from you. The 54G-S would be best suited.
WUSB54G-R This has come as the new version of this product & not without its problems. This is easy to spot, the standard blue & dark gray. However this version is light gray & dark gray, so any confusion between older models & this is less likely to happen.
Well, This version has only 2 known problems. Sometimes, if you unplug it from your USB & re connect it. Your computer screen is presented with the dark blue, white writing error screen & only fix is a restart.
The other is the software. On occasion it just fails to detect any internet connection or wireless networks. However, this is not a problem if you set it to let windows wireless network manage your connection. You can do this by right clicking the the Usual green box next to your time & click the, Use windows XP wireless configuration. This is much more simple & error free to connect.
Price
I have seen the 54G-R sell from £29.99 to £36.99 The 54G-S around £39.99 The 54G around £25.99 to £39.99.
However, I bought mine from EBay or Amazon as used. The 54G cost me £10 inc P+P, the only thing missing was the USB lead, which you can buy from as little as £1
The 54G-S was £20 which was brand new, A Bargain… The 54G-R was £28 but was used, but all was as if new.
These are well worth the money you pay, even if there brand new from pcworld or where ever you purchase them from. I have tried a fair few of wireless adaptors, be it USB or PCI. I have not found any USB to match the quality & reliability as these have. The closest match I found to the quality & Simplicity for PCI was £69.99 from Ebuyer.com You can pay allot more for a much higher quality & speed.
Simple note for all novice pc users.
When your looking at a USB wireless adaptor & one says 54Mbps & another is a much higher speed. Don't be fooled into thinking the higher speed means faster internet. 54Mbps is way more than enough for any internet speed you may or could ever have. The speeds are mainly for PC to PC links for large file transfer. So, if you have 2 of these 54Mbps Wireless USB adaptors in 2 pc's without internet access. You can connect to each other's pc's & exchange files at upto 54Mbps or higher, depending on the speed of the adaptor.
I gave this a 5 star rating as this truly is the best USB Wireless adaptor about. Anyone that has problems using any of the 54G or 54G-S adaptors, should look to there own pc, software or possible spyware issue's. It would be very Unlikely to be these, unless it's a manufacturer problem, But a simple exchange would fix that.

Review of Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster WUSB54GS
Advantages: small, attractive, easy to set up Disadvantages: doesn't work with 64 bit operating systems, not as fast as 'Speed Booster' implies.
...adapter. I'm not sure whether Linksys have done anything about this problem recently but they hadn't provided any updates the last time I checked.
When used on my sons machine, it works fine. Connection is smooth (though not as fast as you'd expect) and uninterupted. It has two little green LCD's on the front which indicate a power supply and the connectivity.
The device connects via USB and is USB 2 capable. It will work happily with USB 1.1 as ... ...4 inches and about .5 of an inch thick. It has a small flat aerial which folds flat if required. Packaging and instructions are attractive and colourful and the installation and set-up details are clear and easy to understand.
In any other circumstances I would recommend this item as being top rate but the fact it is still on sale without support for current and previous versions of Windows relegates the rating. ...

Advantages: Easy to set up a wireless network within your home/office Disadvantages: None that I have found.
...told me to go with Linksys and I did - I wasn't dissapointed! The easy to read set up guide for this product takes you through the process in simple stages. Since the network was set up I have had no problems whatsoever, in fact due to the realiability of this product I have not needed to contact the support line, so I cannot comment on the usefulness of that . All in all a great product for fantastic value. ...

Using your high-speed USB 2.0 port, the Adapter delivers incredible data rates without the trouble of opening up the case of your computer. The Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster incorporates the next generation of Wireless-G. In standard Wireless-G (802.11g) mode, the USB Adapter can connect to wireless networks at an amazing 54Mbps. With Linksys' new SpeedBooster technology enabled, your "real-world" wireless network performance increases by up to 35%! Unlike other speed-enhancing technologies, SpeedBooster is 802.11 compliant, fully compatible with standard Wireless-G, and a "good neighbor" to other wireless devices and technologies, using a single 2.4GHz channel as specified by the official wireless standard. And with SpeedBooster you'll see an overall speed improvement even when running a mixed network of SpeedBooster and regular Wireless-G devices. To install, simply plug the Adapter into any available USB port. (It's compatible with both USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports, but 2.0 will yield the fastest speeds.) It gets its power through the USB connection, so no power cord is necessary. The included Setup Wizard walks you through configuring the Adapter to your wireless network settings, step by step. The Adapter is also compatible with the Wireless-B (802.11b) network standard, with data rates up to 11Mbps. And your wireless communications can be protected by 128-bit encryption, so your data stays secure. The high-gain antenna lets you put your computer almost anywhere in the building, without the cost and hassle of running cables. Now you don't have to drill holes in your walls and climb through the attic or cellar to get connected to the network. Once you're connected, you can keep in touch with your e-mail, access the Internet, use instant messaging to chat with friends, and share files and other resources such as printers and hard disk storage space with other computers on the network. So don't hassle with running cables through your house - get connected to Wireless-B, Wireless-G, and SpeedBooster wireless networks the easy way with the Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster.
