This is a USB adaptor for laptops and PC’s that connects to the wireless network in your home or at work and allows you to access the internet, email, download stuff etc. (even post more reviews on Ciao!)
What’s different about this? ----------------------------------
Wireless N is the new upgraded wireless protocol to wireless G. The range and spped is increased so when you’re sat upstairs with your laptop or in the garden, the signal will be faster and stronger. Wireless N is much more adapted to travelling through walls and obstacles. The download speed is also up to 12 times faster than wireless G which is the next best thing.
So what do I do with it? ----------------------------
You install the drivers, plug in the adapter, and connect to the wireless signal, then away you go!
Can I use this with any PC then? --------------------------------------
I’d recommend you use it with a USB 2 connection then the signal is very fast compared with older USB 1 connections. Also the newer the PC the better the PC will be able to handle the fast flow of data. Also check with the Microsoft website that Windows Vista will be ok with this. You can also make use of the expanding qireless signals in pubs, restaurants hotels etc.
Ok, what’s it look like? ----------------------------
It’s a blue adaptor with a USB connector on the end. The adaptor can be plugged directly into the PC or via an extension wire so the adaptor is not obtrusive and hanging on the back of the laptop or PC.
What’s in the Box? -----------------------
Wireless adaptor, extension wire, cd rom.
Will this only work with Wireless N systems? -------------------------------------------------------
No its backward compatible with older versions of a wireless signal. The wireless system is only as strong as the weakest point. So if you have a Wireless G base unit then this adaptor will not make any difference. Both parts of the system need to be Wireless N. See my review of the Linksys Wireless N router for more info.

Anything wrong with it then? -----------------------------------
If your current signal is satisfactory then ask your self what you’d be gaining with a new wireless system. If you want to surf the net, speak to family over instant messaging whilst sat in the garden etc then this may be for you. The base unit and this adaptor will set you back approx £110. The adaptor can be a little obtrusive and fiddly when using it with a laptop.

Manufacturer's product description
The Wireless-N USB Network Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 4 times farther than standard Wireless-G.With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 12 times as fast as standard WirelessG.Once you're connected, you can keep in touch with your e-mail, access the Internet, and share files and other resources such as printers and network storage with other computers on the network, wherever you wander. At home, you can surf the web or use instant messaging to chat with friends while sitting out on the patio. You'll also be able to connect with any of the growing number of public hotspots springing up in coffee shops, airport lounges, hotels and convention centers. Your wireless connection is protected by industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. The included Setup Wizard will walk you through configuring the adapter to your network's settings, step by step. The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in performance. Get connected to Wireless-N, Wireless-G, and Wireless-B networks with the Wireless-N USB Network Adapter from Linksys.
