...you do so. Well, Lips is like SingStar in that respect, but with a few extras.
Lips is better than SingStar in some ways but worse in others. It is better because the microphones are a lot more fun; they are wireless and light up in time to the music. What is worse about it than SingStar is that the scoring seems pretty random throughout the whole game, and just blowing into the mic (white noise) can rack up the points. You can think you are singing well and get a crappy score which you just can't seem to improve on, and you could be singing not so good and get higher points! It is better because you can add effects such as delay and reverb to your voice and there is also a vocal reduction feature which works to an extent. You can also import your own music and sing a long to it with vocal reduction, but I wouldn't take notice of the scores as they are random.
What is worse about it than SingStar is that the scoring seems pretty random throughout the whole game, and just blowing into the mic (white noise) can rack up the points. You can think you are singing well and get a crappy score which you just can't seem to improve on, and you could be singing not so good and get higher points! Although it boasts that vibrato and stability of your voice make a difference to the score, all they do is give you a medal as you sing, as does tapping your mic randomly to the beat activating the percussion.
A lot of the new features are gimmicks such as the percussion and following the little drawing on the side of your screen to activate star mode. These really do nothing to game play except cause an annoyance. The store is not very well presented and songs are few and far between and if you download a tune via the dashbaord, you have to set it off to download again through the game before it detects it! Annoying.
Now I have heard there will be a new update arriving soon and I hope it does. I heard it will add new difficulty levels which I hope happens as once you have sung all tunes to the best of your ability, that's it. I've heard it will revise the scoring system too.
One thing I do like is the two player mode as it's fun and activated by the other person shaking the mic, but once again scoring is random and I do think one mic works better than the other! As for the mics, they weren't the easiest to sync and will need to be synced again if you ever decide to link them to, say, your mates console. Also talking of two player, look out for the random duet thrown into Single Player mode. On my console it was Blondie and Call Me. On my friends it was KT Tunstall. That means you can't play that song by yourself. Weird.
I do recommend this game but only if you don't have any access to SingStar as that has a lot of things that are better. But I reckon with the new update things might improve enough. The song selection is actually OK and when the new songs are released, a few good ones have cropped up.
Advantages: Good fun, great party game Disadvantages: Could do with more tracks, mics can be tricky to synch, single player mode is a bit weak
...not to be. Lips also allows you to sing songs from other music devices such as the iPod. This however doesnt put the words up on the screen whilst singing so its a bit of a pointless feature in my opinion.
==Song List==
1 No One - Alicia Keys
2 Stand By Me - Ben E. King
3 Irreplaceable - Beyoncé
4 Call Me - Blondie
5 Boogie 2Nite - Booty Luv
6 With You - Chris Brown
7 Yellow - Coldplay
8 Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
9 Survivor - Destiny's ... ...Young MC
==Verdict==
Lips is a very good party game that doesnt really offer much more than any of the other karaoke games on the market. If you own the Xbox 360 and are on the look out for a game in this genre, you certainly wont be disappointed. The game does work best in a multiplayer environment and could have done with more tracks as standard. Even people with poor singing voices such as myself will be able to play this game and get decent ...

Advantages: Great game, good price, batteries seem to last an age! Disadvantages: Only half the songs I actually like.
I purchased 'Lips' for £34.99 at a pre-owned price from Gamestation, the normal selling price is £39.99 for the two microphones, 4 aa batteries and the 'Lips' xbox 360 game. Once I opened the game I realised that it had never been opened before and that although I paid a pre-owned price, I wasn't getting a pre-owned game! You get two wireless microphones which have to be synced up to your Xbox 360 by pressing the search button on the front of the ... ...each of the wireless microphones. To place the batteries inside you have to screw off the top of the microphone, left up a slot and just place the batteries inside, this was very easy to do and took a matter of seconds (always essential when you're desperate to try out your new game!). Once synced you are ready to begin playing the game. You can dive right in and sing immediately which is what I did at first but there are also other options on the ...

LIPS MORE THAN A KAREOKE GAME, SINGSTAR HAS COMPETITION 360 WANTS THE FAMILY CROWN AND WANTS TO TAKE ON THE OTHER CONSOLES AND THIS IS ONE OF THEIR GAMES TO HELP, ALONG WITH IN THE MOVIES. The 360 wants to be a serious contender on the family market scene this year and this is one of the new games to help it get the crown is LIPS. It is far more than just a singstar copy. Lips is an exclent Kareoke style game. The game itself comes complete with ... ...motion sensored so there are some mad poses the game throws at you for bonus stars. Also you can choose what colour the lights displaying on the mike are. You have to sing each word to the very end of it to get a vibration bonus. There are also technique, style, pitch and performance stars to get. Scores for songs get awarded from biscuit to big bang. The more notes and things you get right in each song you are awarded stars. LIPS - only for XBOX 360
I got this product new at christmas time for my mum and little sister. Its just brilliant, you are able to use the wireless microphones anywhere you want within range and you can add new songs from XBOX LIVE or your mp3/ipod device. The quality is perfect and the multiplayer is brilliant for home use and (or) parties. We have had several big parties since christmas day and the response from everyone that has used it has ... ...better.
The format of LIPS is simple to operate and people of all ages can use it. After all, you only have to sing into a microphone. Lips is on every weekend in my house and is a favourite for many girls and boys alike. Its main difference is that its completely customisable and you can upload your choice of song to sing along to.
You can purchase up to 6 microphones in total and have 6 different people singing at once competing or just having ...

Advantages: good all round fun and ideal for those drunken parties with friends and family Disadvantages: the songs can become a bit repetitive
So lips!!! another addition to the wild world or crazy games that are really fun. A really good game that is an essential for those party's and nights in. Especially over christmas with the guys and the gals over with a few cocktails and a lot of laughs. This is a really good product and a good competitor to its competitors. It has a really good choice of songs and an easy to use style of play with a good sense of fun from start to finish. With songs ... ...that most people will love. I would say that it really does show how far games have come on since back in the atari days! Theres so many features that easily beat its competitors like the ability to put your own music on for everyone to sing to plus the chance to buy more songs from xbox live to add to the already 40 great songs. i would say the only bad point of this game is the fact that the songs do become a bit repetitive after a while and unless ...

My personal favourite game on the Xbox360 ...
Advantages: Reduces boredom Disadvantages: Waste of your time
around for the handful you missed.
In reference to the point above, it's practically impossible to differentiate between your own troops and the enemy! You end up just attacking anything that moves in the hope you hear the sound of your weapon hitting, then you know you've found something.
If you're pulling off a power-move in the middle of a cutscene, your move is cancelled when you return, so you've just wasted the entire process of collecting orbs. Nice one, Microsoft.
The lip-synching of characters is non-existant. You'd think in this day and age, and the power behind the Xbox360, they'd be able to do something as simple as this. The whole game is rushed beyond belief.
The game lags heavily in places. Again, this is a POWERFUL console, why does it lag in silly places?
There are countless other bugs I could list, but ...
