LIPS MORE THAN A KAREOKE GAME, SINGSTAR HAS COMPETITION 360 WANTS THE FAMILY CROWN AND WANTS TO TAKE ON THE OTHER CONSOLES AND THIS IS ONE OF THEIR GAMES TO HELP, ALONG WITH IN THE MOVIES.
The 360 wants to be a serious contender on the family market scene this year and this is one of the new games to help it get the crown is LIPS. It is far more than just a singstar copy. Lips is an exclent Kareoke style game. The game itself comes complete with two wireless, one black, one white microphones. The mikes are motion sensored so there are some mad poses the game throws at you for bonus stars. Also you can choose what colour the lights displaying on the mike are. You have to sing each word to the very end of it to get a vibration bonus. There are also technique, style, pitch and performance stars to get. Scores for songs get awarded from biscuit to big bang. The more notes and things you get right in each song
you are awarded stars. The more stars you get are added to an overall total that help you get achievements. The microphones are motion senstive so that you can get bonus points for shaking your mike, and moving your body slightly. The game throws some intresting poses to do with your microphone. Points and stars are awarded for pitch, vibration, tone and technique and hitting all the words. Even if you lose on points to your opponent in the song you can still win when all the stars are added up at the end. There are duet songs which you sing in co operative mode. The disc comes with 40 pre-loaded songs. If you have an MP3 player, you can play own music. As far I know you can also use the microphones on rock band, but couldn't say for deffinite. (UPDATED INFO. I have bought rock band and you can't use the mikes. You have tio buy logitech wired mikes for that one.) Songs that come on the disc include: All styles of music have been incorparated to keep everyone happy. Updated song list. Stand by Me BEN E KING Ring Of Fire JOHNNY CASH (probably the easiest to sing) Mercy DUFFY Umbrella RHIANNA Call Me BLONDIE Yellow COLDPLAY Bleedin Love LEONA LEWIS (get ready to get high pitched) Another one bites the dust QUEEN A-ha TAKE ON ME (FREE DOWNLOAD) Personal Jesus DEPECHE MODE Yellow COLDPLAY I would walk 500 miles PROCLAIMERS White flag DIDO Love at first sight KYLIE MINOUGE Listen to your heard ROXETTE Ruby KAISER CHIEFS Every Little Thing POLICE bust a move REBEL MC Naive THE KOOKS Song for whoever BEAUTIFUL SOUTH Survivor DESTINY'S CHILD Also until Jun 2009 A-ha's take on me can be downloaded free. Once downloaded from xbxo live the song will automatically appear next time you play the game in the song list. Songs are lsited in alphabetical order of thier title. Other songs cost around 160 credits from xbox live. At the moment there aren't that many songs, but I think that'll change by Christmas. A very good party game, with vs and co-operative challenges. Up to four mikes can be connected. There are four modes of singing altogther. One is singing enough to fill your glass with enough water to diffuse a bomb. Another one is the battle mode, where you sing against a friend to sing each other off the stage. Unique features include the abillity to add your own music from your own collection and being able to buy tracks from xbox live, which at the moment the choice is limited but I should imagine it will improve with time, as the game was released a month earlier than intended. So you might be better off checking the catalogue of music the week before Chrsitmas which was nearer the official release date. This is a game mum and dads might enjoy more than their kids, and their kids may be putting their fingers in their ears. The microphones change colour with the beat of the music, and when there's no singing to be done shake the mike for extra bonus points. Each song has six medals to get, including pitch technique vibration rhythm.
You can also add your own music through an MP3 player. So you can sing to the songs you like.
