Advantages Advantages Sugar free and more polite than chewing gum

Disadvantages Disadvantages Impregnated with chemicals & sweeteners

Another check up at the dentist and yet another filling. Despite being lucky enough to be registered with an NHS dentist, a filling still sets me back £60+. Maybe it was time to cut back on my consumption of Extra Strong Mints and reduce the risk of further fillings? I needed to find a substitute for my mints but drew the line at chewing gum as it always looks a bit tacky and impolite. I don't think that my employer would be too happy so see me dealing with clients whilst chewing gum. So I had a scout round Boots in my lunch hour and spotted Listerine Actives. They claim to be sugar free, so I ... more

Advantages Advantages Effective at freshening breath, effect lasts a reasonable amount of time

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, an initial sticky mouth feel, aftertaste

I smoke. I smoke a lot. Perhaps this has something to do with my job – I work in a smoking warehouse in the armpit of London, and I’m on the phone most of the day. This is a bad combination. Smoking has many consequences – many dire, others simply irritating to either myself or those around me. For example, my voice has dropped at least an octave in the last year – I’m certain that could I sing, I’d be a tenor by now. Smoking, especially heavy smoking, also results in ashtray breath. Ashtray breath leaves a nasty taste in my mouth, and a nasty odour for ... more

Advantages Advantages keep mouth feeling fresh for ages

    Disadvantages Disadvantages a tad expensive

I have been meaning to put this op up for a while but was awaiting Ciao to put the category in for me. Now they have I can tell you about these strange but excellent Oral Care Strips. I first came accross these when I had dinner with my parents a few weeks back, and my mouth felt like the bottom of a bird cage. Dad gave me one of these strips to revitalise my gob, and boy did they do just that. WHAT ARE THEY xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx These are COOL MINT LISTERINE ACTIVES (ORAL CARE STRIPS). They are little blue transparent strips that you put on your tongue and you just let them dissolve, there is no ... more

    Advantages Advantages Freshen breath

Disadvantages Disadvantages Strong as heck fire!!

After recently trying the Wrigleys variety of these new strips, I decided to sample the Listerine version to see how they compared. I shall now share my experiences with you all. The idea of these strips is that you place one onto the tounge and allow to desolve. This apparently helps to kill germs and provides long lasting freshened breath. Well thats the plan anyway!!! One major disadvantage of this product is that at around £1 for just 24 strips seems quite steep. They can be purchased from all supermarkets and chemists, and also various cornershop/convinience stores are now stocking them ... more

Advantages Advantages None I could think of

Disadvantages Disadvantages Chemical, too strong, aftertaste

I saw these and thought I’d give them a try, people in my office seem to take them all the time, why should I miss out I thought!! When I was in the shop, I found them and chucked them into my basket (I never generally read labels in the shop!!) ** What are they? ** They are “Oral Care Strips”. These are dissolvable strips, which the makers claim to give instant freshness, and to kill germs for fresh breath! ** What’s the Packet like? ** They come in an outer wrapper, which has loads of writing all over it. There is a picture of the strips, and the plastic case If you read the ingredients list ... more
