Advantages: Being a combo drive makes this drive very useable

...On purchaseing this drive i found it easy to install and use the bundeld software is a great addition to the kit at a very reasonable price. I purchased mine on ebay so it was even better only 75% of the going price.Now having installed and used this drive i would not be put off buying at the full price.It gives very good playback of DVDs and is good on recording CDRs.All in all a very good purchace for the average computer user wishing to upgrade from a CD ROM.The software included is Nero 6 OEM + Power DVD Version 5 wich is upgradeable at a price although not a must for average user.The drive is very quiet in use and have had no problems as yet .I recommend the Liteon SOHC- 5236V as a worthwile purchase and no problems.... Disadvantages: Not a DVD-burner, but very little else at this price

...‘lives’, it is possible to get the vendor to reset this by returning the kit to base, and it’s likely to be a particular nuisance to those with DVD collections sporting a mixture of imports and home grown disks. Even the vendor is limited to 4 resets of the 5 choices, leaving the machine practically unusable after 20 regions have been swapped……..or SO they’d like you to think. I downloaded a natty little utility purposely written for LiteOn machines called LTNRPC which comes in a zip file from www.rpc1.org. This not only allows you to reset the number of regional changes back to 5 every time it gets close to zero, (which in turn uses up one your precious ‘vendor resets’) but also allows you to regain the full number of vendor resets too! LITE-ON Information Technology corportation are constantly devoloping anit-vibration mechanical design, advanced circuit design and increased performance. LITE-ON Information Technology Corporation (LITE-ON I.T.) this was a big part of the LITE-ON group which concentrated on the optical storage devices which then led to the creation on these fine CDROM drives we have today. This LITE-ON CD-RW is a very good drive and after purchasing one for personnal use I have purchased many more for computers I have built for friends and family.
