I looked up liteon website and found there was firmware to correct this problem, which I downloaded, followed the correct procedure but it made no difference.
I thought perhaps it was the discs I was using but after playing them on my son's player there was no fault with the discs, which were high quality discs.

I mainly wanted it for playing divx and xvid encoded discs so thought it was the model for me.
After setting it up which was quite complicated as the manual wasn't great at explaining how to setup, I tested it out at recording from TV and also Sky.
No problems there. The good thing I thought was being able to use + or - discs as most machines use +.
One big plus was the hdmi cable for folks who have an HD ready television. Unfortunately, I don't have an HD ready television so I didn't connect the HDMI cable.
Playback of all my bought dvds was excellent so I was well chuffed with my purchase.
Now to the drawbacks....................................

If you just want a good recorder and a machine to play dvds then this is a good buy but, I'm afraid it wasn't the machine for me.
