So you’ve just brought little big planet, you anxiously place the disc into your ps3 system and wait for a loading screen. Instantly you are thrown into the game, a little sackboy appears on screen and you walk through the opening credits and learn the controls. You indulge in the amazing graphics and learn what it is to be a part of LittleBigPlanet
LittleBigPlanet is so much more than just your average platformer. It is one of the most imaginative and magical games so far to be released on ps3, not to mention the physics engine is like nothing seen before. Every little part of your sackboy (or girl) s life can be controlled and customised, for example if you hold R2 the analogue sticks become controls for your sack persons arms, and with a sixaxis controller you can move your sackboys head. Even the look of your sackboy can be customised with literally millions of different combinations such as material, clothing, accessories, eyes, nose, mouth, tail etc...
You’re probably thinking that with all this customisation there isn’t much room left for the game play right? Wrong! In fact it’s quite the opposite with a cute little storyline as you play through, enough levels to keep you satisfied for weeks, immense graphics and sound that involve you in the game (it makes full use of the eyetoy). The aim of the game is to progress through each level collecting stickers, items, new costumes, etc whilst swinging, climbing, skateboarding, flying, dodging, running and jumping your way through. It’s almost impossible to describe a typical level as they vary so much making them so unique. To complete each level 100% collecting everything in that level takes patience and intelligence whilst still being fun, making the one player storyline long enough to keep you satisfied for weeks.
If this isn’t enough then the multiplayer portion of the game sweetens the deal. At any time during the game a friend can turn on their sixaxis controller and join you instantly whether you’re doing a level or customising your sackboy. Occasionally during a level you will find places where you need two players to reach, time to call your friends over! If you haven’t got two controllers then don’t worry, you can play with up to 3 other players online. Browse through the endless count of community levels, some a separate game in themselves, earn achievements as you play community levels against other players or create your own level and publish it online for everyone to admire, and best of all for free!
You really do have to play this game at least once to believe it. It may look strange maybe childish on the outside but if you look closer you begin to realise the limitless fun this game has to offer. It surely is a must own to every ps3 owners game collection.
