Advantages great gameplay, fun, unique, huge game!

Disadvantages The map is hard to understand, and it can get repetitive

Gamespot.com had told me that this game was going to be great. I had read previews about the gameplay, which is said to be a cross between Pikmin and harvest moon; two games i enjoy.

So when i came out, with the little money my student loan gives me, i went out and bought it at full price (which i rarely do - second hand gamestores are the way forward!). Playing the game when i got home, i was not disapointed at all.

The game starts slowly, getting you used to the way the game works. You are a little king, and you have to build up you town by buying buildings which are then placed in preset places, so all towns look the same i.e. you can't place buildings where you want, like in simcity etc. This was a bit of a disapointment, but when you start building many buildings in your town, you are grateful for the ease of building.

Starting with only a few villagers (who all have their own name and look) at your disposal, you have to go out and find TREASURE! This is the pikmin like stage of the game, begining with simple villagers, you find treasure buried, and you have to dig it up. There are also monsters in the land, killing them gets you money. To kill them, you throw your people at them and they will attack. However, if they die, they may never return. And when you have formed a wierd bond with you virtual villagers, unless they wash up on the shore, when they get killed, its over, and its sad.

The main brunt of the game involves defeating some kings, until the whole world is yours. The king battles are fun, but losing many villagers in the battles can be stressful, and when you accidently trigger the fight, you have to win or die and go back to your last save, so if you have progressed a lot, then get killed in battle, and find it too hard to win, you can lose loads.

The cute graphics add to the game, giving it a story book feel. although there is no close zoom, so looking at things close can be tricky, and getting lost can be quite easy as the map is a bit rubbish.

I am glad i bought this game, although the repetiveness can get too me and i havn't played it in a while. I'm also not sure where the harvest moon similie comes from, apart from that there are cows in the village. I recommend buying the game however!
