Advantages: Ease of use, easy to clean, help baby to latch on Disadvantages: None
...When I first started breastfeeding I became engorged very regularly which meant that my baby could not latch on, her attempts began to take their toll as my nipples became very sore. I was on the verge of giving up when the midwife suggested I tried a nipple shield, all of a sudden my life was turned around, these little plastic nothings became the key to successful breastfeeding. No matter how engorged I was, my baby was able to latch on. When I left hospital I went out and bought some nipple shields myself, I used Avent nipple shields which cost approx £4 for 2 nipple shields. You can buy them from most high street chemists and places such as Boots and Mothercare sell their own make. They can be cleaned easily in a steam or cold steriliser and are ready to use straight after sterilisation. They are comfortable and does...

Advantages: Instant Pain Relief Disadvantages: Baby may find teat too large
...When I was pregnant, I was flicking through the Mothercare cataglogue thinking, oh my god, I have so much to buy, and I saw the Silicone Nipple Shields, and thought - what a rip off, they'll try and get you to buy anything these days. HAH! How wrong was I! Two weeks into breastfeeding my nipples became very soft (like your finger tips go when you've spent too long in the bath) and were very tender, this was due to my daughter falling asleep with them in her mouth. I had used nipple cream, but that was more for dry, cracked nipples, so I popped along to my nearest chemist, gave in to the once thought sales gimmic, and purchased Avents Silicone Nipple Shields - THANK YOU AVENT - they provided instant protection and made feeding a whole lot more bearable.
The only disadvantage I would say is that my baby found them a little too large...

...Billy Baby Walker/Exerciser
As Jack is not yet walking about I thought this would be the perfect solution to me getting things done around the flat and him not screaming the place down sat on the floor. My mother in law offered to buy us a walker and after looking at some rather expensive models I search online at Amazon and found this far more affordable one that is just as good.
I paid, or rather the other in law, around £35 for this Billy baby walker/exerciser and a little on top for posting but I do think it was worth every single penny. It arrived within a week and although it came in a few separate pieces it took no time at all to piece it together. Although the instruction leaflet was far too complicated for my other half and as usual I ended up throwing the instruction booklet away and sorting it out on my own. Much...
