Ok, if you promise to read this opinion I promise it will be the last ‘car’ orientated opinion I write for a while, deal? Then I’ll begin.
The Little Tikes Company, goes back to 1970, can you believe that? Most people think they have only been around for the last 10 years or so. Little Tikes' headquarters are located in Hudson, Ohio. The company also has a number of locations outside the United States, including several manufacturing and distribution centers in Europe and Asia. Little Tikes employs more than 2,000 associates around the world, with about 1,300 based in Ohio.
Among the company's market-leading categories is the red and yellow Cozy Coupe Car, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 1999, with more than 6 million units sold since its creation.
Well, I might not have bought 6 million of them, just the one actually, but this opinion isn't really about the original Cozy Coupe> It's about it's big brother the new Car Sounds Coupe and I bet it will outsell the original ten times over.
I have always trusted Little Tikes toys; they are made to excellent standards and keep going far and beyond their ‘needed’ lifetime. I have just recently thrown away a Cozy Coupe car, which I bought for my eldest son some 10 years ago. It had been used daily by him and then his brother and finally bit the dust just last summer after having its petrol tank filled up with stones a few months earlier, (Ben has some strange habits!)
Anyway, I decided to buy the twins a Cozy Coupe each for Christmas so set off to the local Mothercare World to buy one. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had in fact ‘updated’ their range quite considerably since the last time I had bought toys. One of their ‘newish’ lines was the Car Sounds Coupe.
Not unlike the first Cozy Coupe in style and shape it had really just one new feature as far as I could see and that was a steering wheel with ‘sounds’. A great idea, now Joe and Connor can give mummy a full on headache pressing their buttons relentlessly.
The first Cozy Coupe was red and yellow in colour, this new variation is red and blue, a little more ‘boyish’ looking, I think, than its predecessors. It still comes with all the features of the first Coupe, stick on mirrors, numberplate, petrol cap and one opening door. It also still had the same ‘swivel’ wheels and back parcel shelf for all those essentials!
The sounds are featured as part of the steering wheel, 11 in all, and are operated by batteries (which are not supplied with the car. There are all sorts of sounds including a screeching of brakes, a glugging of petrol, one that sounds like the car has a dodgy starter motor, a backfiring sound and of course a beeping noise. These are all around the steering wheel as I said, with a central ‘horn’ button, which emits a different beep.
The Car Sounds Coupe is available for just £49,99 which is only £10.00 dearer than the original version which is also still available if you want a silent household. For more information about the Little Tikes company or their range of toys you can visit their website, www.littletikes.com.
The boys have had hours of fun from their cars already, their favourite buttons being the beep and the screeching ones right now, I wonder why? Are they trying to copy how I drive or something?

We have a cosy at the moment which my youngest son loves. I has already been through 3 nephews and my eldest son (and if I really try I can just about fit in, I do have trouble steering though :)
