This Little Tikes Activity Gym is great for young children and creates a fun environment which is also safe.
The activity gym comes in a large box which contained all the parts. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Looking at the gym all you needed to do is slot in the pieces. This was true as the pieces did have to be slotted together but getting them together was the hard bit. You need someone strong who can force the sections together but at least the instructions are easy to follow so you don't go wrong (imagine having to undo it and reassemble it!).
The activity gym is brightly coloured meaning more fun for the children. Be warned that the colours do not
remotely blend in with any surroundings so don't be alarmed when you have this bright coloured object in the middle of your garden. The slide is quite short which is not very enjoyable for slightly older children however this allows very young children to be bale to go on without worries of injuring themselves. There is a platform which is not too high which has a slide leading down from it. It is relatively easy for your children to climb onto the platform and they are unlikely to fall off since there are sides on the sides of the platform (for very young children supervision is a good idea!). The holes are great for the children to crawl through and provide them with great enjoyment and satisfaction first time they crawl through a hole. Underneath the platform there is a den which can be accessed through the holes. This is great for children and provides hours of fun especially with their friends. The den allows them to develop their imagination as many times I have seen the den being used as a range of different things including a castle, house and even a space rocket!
This activity gym centre can be used inside in a playroom or even a bedroom as it is not very large. Especially in the winter or for very young children this would be a good idea just in case they did fall and for when they are inside the den a soft floor would be good. However when the weather is nice the activity gym is great outdoors because it gives the childfresh air and enjoyment. I do not recommend having this activity gym on the patio as this may hurt the child as they are crawling in and out of the holes. However the grass provides a soft cushion which allows them to use this activity gym for a long time without getting sore knees.
If you do have the activity gym outside then it will need cleaning about once a month. I recommend using a hose for a quick wash of the whole gym. If the activity gym is inside then a cloth can be used to remove any dust which may collect. The activity gym is very easy to clean wherever it is.
Although supervision is needed for very young children, I think children of an older age e.g. 4 and above, can be left on this activity gym because it is very strong so able to hold more than one child's weight. It will not collapse if more than one child plays on it allowing fun for everyone. It is very sturdy and does not shake this is great because parents feel happier about their children being on the activity gym and children feel more secure therefore more confident and so happier about playing on it.
It can also be bought in a different colour of red, green and yellow. It can be bought directly from Toys R Us and Mothercare. It cost a little under £50 but it can be bought on ebay for cheaper. Second hand activity gyms are even cheaper and since the material is long lasting might be worth getting.
This product is recommended for children between the ages of 18 months to 4 years old. But with supervision younger children can easily play on it. It is certainly strong enough to hold children over the age of 4 but when they get too old they can not fit through the holes! However older children may not find this as fun as the slide is only small and may want a slightly more challenging climbing frame.
I do recommend this product as it is great for children to play with. If your child does out grow the gym then you can always sell it but I think this product will provide hours of fun for you children.
