Advantages Easy to assemble. Sturdy. Attractive. Fun.

Disadvantages Expensive.

The Little Tikes Slide is an piece of outdoor apparatus that my son has had since he was 18 months old. He is now 3 years old and he is still playing on it and enjoying it - although I suspect this is the last year he will get enjoyment out of it considering the fact that it's quite small and my son is a bit of a daredevil! It costs £69.99 from ToysRus and so it's not a cheap option for a present - and to be honest, I think it is probably a little overpriced for a kids toys that is made entirely out of plastic and for which there are other alternatives out there. But having said that, Little Tykes is a popular brand which is probably why it can get away with the high price tag.

The slide is made out of pieces of plastic which can be assembled together to form a slide which is 168cm x 97cm x 97cm - which is quite chunky really, although the great thing about this product is that it can be folded up when not in use to preserve space in the garden or even allow it to be stored in the garage or shed over the winter months when it's use is going to be very limited. When the slide comes, it does need to be assembled, but this assembly is very simple......so simple that even I could manage it without any help from my partner. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and it can be fully assembled in about five steps.

The slide is attractive to look at and comprises of yellow, green and red colours - which are eye catching. Because it is so chunky, it means that it's very stable on the ground and in the time we've had it, not once has it fallen over, despite my son hanging from it at times like a monkey. It has a wide and stable base - and this is impressive. At the back of the slide there are a series of steps which are equally chunky and not to far apart and so they are also easy for young children to navigate. In total, it takes five steps to get to the top, and the side of the stairs can be used as handles. Even when my son was 18 months old he had no trouble getting up the steps and never fell off. The actual slide itself is also wide and has rounded edges which mean there is nothing for my son to injure himself on - and he also manages to slide down without anything impeding his slide. The plastic is quite shiny and so this also helps the ride be unimpeded.

Because the whole apparatus is made out of plastic, it is easily cleaned and can be wiped over - or alternatively set the hose on it as I tend to do. It's made of very durable plastic and so it's definitely made to last.

Overall, I think this is a great piece of apparatus and my son has enjoyed having it. I do think it's quite expensive, but of all the alternatives available, I do think that this is the best one.
