Walking around Toys R Us a few months back now with the usual "want daddy I want it daddy" ringing in my ears my little 2 year old Rhegan went very quiet so thinking he had wandered off I turned around sharply with a slight amount of panic rushing through my head and noticed him rocking happily backwards and forwards behind a display of boxes. When I walked around I saw that he had mounted a rocking horse and was having the time of his life. "Look Daddy Gee Gee" he kept telling me so of course seeing something he loved so much out came my wallet and we bought him one for the princely sum of £19.99.
I collected the box from the customer service desk and placed it in the car "Daddy Gee Gee Please" still ringing in my ears. When we got home he demanded that I open it straight away and set it up for him to have a go on so I unpacked it and set it up for him. That was the end of that he was away dressing up in his cowboy outfit and riding his Gee Gee as he calls it for hours. Occasionally his little brother will toddle up and shove him off but he just laughs and climbs back on because he has so much fun. Not only does Rhegan enjoy it but Harley has now started to climb on and the other day I caught them both on it together that was a really funny sight, I have a photo of them but unfortunately I can't work out how to get it off of my phone.
Well this is my experience of it now for the details of the product itself and my view on each stage from setting up to cleaning.
SETUP ---------
Set up is so simple the horse itself is one complete horse shaped piece of plastic I got his in Red but it is available in other colors. All you have to assemble is the handle which you simply push the wooden rod through the horses head and attach the plastic handles to each side to prevent it coming out. There are no screws or fixings to worry about and no batteries or anything required to operate just old fashioned energy gets it going. The box it comes in takes some ripping to get out with the bin men mind lol as its huge because the horse comes ready made and is quite large in itself. All the stickers were already pre stuck so no need even for lining up stickers and getting them wrong(Something I seem to be an expert at getting wrong lol).
DESCRIPTION --------------------
The make up of this rocking horse is very simple as you find with most Little Tykes products, the horse and its seat are all molded out of one piece of solid and thick plastic, the seat is low enough to cause no damage if you fall off and has a high back for support. Along the bottom at the rocking point are ledges for feet to be placed and used for generating the rocking motion. The handle is nicely placed in the horses head again for holding whilst generating the rocking motion. The dimensions are: 43cm x 29cm x 86cm.
SAFETY -----------
This horse has no particular safety features at all but does sit very low so any danger of injury from a fall is unlikely. There are no small bit's that can be broken off or swallowed and the base has nice smoothed off rounded edges so no danger of a bang even if you feel into it there would be no real damage caused. One minor note is the wooden handle can come out if your little one is like mine and decides to see if he can take the handles off. These are however very soft plastic and the wooden pole is light and rounded so no sharp points.
AGE ------
This rocking horse is recommended for 1-3 year olds however I would say don't put your child on it until they can climb on and off themselves and are very confident at sitting and gripping as you can really get some speed going on this rocker.
Rhegan Horse has been thrown all around the house and at one stage even down the stairs and is still in perfect condition, it is made of solid plastic and can take a real whack. The handle is one solid piece of wood place through the plastic so can't be snapped as it's short thick and stubby.(No Jokes Please lol) So as far as durability goes its an A+ as for mobility it is very big so not ideal for traveling with but as for moving around the house it's great very light and easy to maneuver when the summer comes no doubt it will spend loads of time out in the garden with all of Rhegans other toys.
CLEANING ----------------
Being plastic and having very little grooves and ledges the horse is very easy to keep clean believe me it's been covered in all sorts and a damp wet cloth has taken it all off no problem, even when horse was given 4 extra eyes with a felt tipped pen it rubbed off no problem. I can imagine when the summer comes that the underside will get damaged rocking on the garden patio and may do it some damage. Be aware I nearly washed the stickers clean off by initially going a bit mad with soapy water.
VALUE AND PRICE ----------------------------
Overall considering all the above factors and the price label of £19.99 it has been a great buy encouraging play without all the mod con's of modern day toys and giving no end of fun to my boy's. The value is not in question for £19.99 I have a strong durable easy to clean toy that will last and be able to be used by two boys you don't get much better than that. I would certainly recommend any potential buyer to part with their cash and really treat your little one to a good top quality toy at a very reasonable price. Should I have not covered all aspects please drop me a comment and I will get back to you, thanks for taking the time to read my review.
Advantages: Lightweight and fun for older babies, relatively safe, will last for years, easy on/off, low to ground, safe, fade resistant, quality name, wide base, wipes clean, good height for toddlers to climb on Disadvantages: Should keep an eye on your child while playing with this rocking horse, possibly tipping hazard, slippery on hard surfaces

...from the supermarket with a little voice in the back saying "go on there" over and over again. I have never seen such excitement when she was able to ride it. She rocked it so energetically that I was worried she would go flying over the front of it. This has never happened so I have stopped worrying now. It does move across the floor if the child is too enthusiastic, but this adds to the fun. It can be used inside and out which makes it very versatile ... ...wearing out in a hurry.
My daughter does sometimes get bored with it, but I find if I put it out of sight for a few days, it is almost like being reunited with a long lost friend when I bring it out again! Other children that visit us love this toy as well, so it was definately a good buy. We bought this toy at Tesco for £10, but I imagine it is available in all good toy shops. ...

...brought this toy for my little brother and it was virtually impossible for him to rock all the way back on. It is easy to clean which is a bonus with young children and very tough - even my older siblings can play around on it without any damage. It is light and easy to move around unlike some other toys and on the odd occaision he managed to slide off and pull the toy it did not fall on him, but even if it had it is too light to do any damage. This moulded plastic rocking horse is fantastic. It is very safe, with handles to hold onto and a nice low seat. It rocks as gently or as fast as your child likes. The best thing is that it can be left outside in all weathers- all it needs is a quick wipe down after a rainfall and it is good to go! If it does get dirty, it wipes clean really well. It is very tough and will last years- if you get it for a first child it will last well for any following ...

Advantages: A durable, washable and versatile toy Disadvantages: A bit opinionated and vain.
...climb Mt Everest with all the fuss she made. Maybe I’ll get cuddly Bob to go next time, he’s got such a cute……ahem, hammer! Mind you, Bear in the Blue House was very helpful with suggestions and all the toybox cuddly toys had some great ideas about what to write, so really it was a team effort. You wait, they’ll all be on here if they get the chance, squabbling and carrying on, I don’t know, what’s a girl to do?
Anyway, here I am. My official title is Rock ‘n Scoot Zebra, but you can call me Scoot. I am an avant-garde horse. Those wonderful LittleTikes people put me together and I am a ride-on toy. No, scratch that, I am a rockinghorse AND a ride-on toy, so there, dobbin! I spent the early part of my existence shut away in a dark, gloomy box in the Lincoln branch of Toys ‘R Us, where I was bought for the princely sum of £40...
