I started an account with Littlewoods in about 1998, and carried it through to about 2000. I will never have an account with them again and I will tell you why.
To start with, admittedly everything was fine, until one day I ordered two items for my daughter, a skirt, and a pair of trainers. I received neither, just a letter to say stock was being delayed. Fine. Until I got my statement and found I had been charged for both items. I rang customer services, who promised to credit my account and she then reordered both items for me (which I did then receive).
Ok so that was a minor hiccup, and everything would have been fine if it weren't for my friend ordering a vaccum cleaner from my catalogue. It broke within about a month, so I phoned customer services again and we sent it back, and they sent us a replacement. This one lasted about a day before sparks came out the back (slightly dangerous don't you think). Again I phoned customer services, but this time they weren't so happy to credit my account when I told them I didn't want a replacement. My friend had decided to try a different make and model. The advisor told me that I wouldn't be credited until they were satisfied that the vacuum was indeed broken. Hah.
My account did eventually get credited and I ordered a different vacuum for my friend (i was beginning to wish I hadn't got involved in this vaccuum cleaner by this time. I thought maybe my friend wasn't very good at keeping her appliances alive), but needless to say, she has had the same vacuum for about a year now and it hasn't broken yet.
She hasn't however got the vacuum she ordered through me. That one lasted about a month before pieces started to fall off it. I had had enough. I told her to send it back, and I would get her her money back and then she should get her vacuum form somewhere else.
Through all this I decided to close my account with Littlewoods. The customer service advisor asked why I wished to close it. (Bad mistake as I wasn't very happy). I told her exactly what I have written here, and then she gladly closed my account for me and sent me a cheque with my cashback amount on.
Maybe I was just the unlucky one in this experience, but I do run another catalogue and have never had any problems with them. This is just my opinion.
