...when you hear the name Tim Minchin? A straggly ginger haired Australian comedian with a penchant for eyeliner and dislike for shoes? Minchin fell into comedy somewhat by accident and still thinks of himself as more of a musician than a comedian. His songs cover a wide range of subjects from religious fundamentalism, alternative therapies, his own life to blow up dolls. One thing for certain is that there is never going to be a dull moment during ......opening to the show where Tim Minchin comes out to a fanfare or music and flashing lights. Dressed simply in black skinny jeans with handprints on the bum and a white shirt with his trademark heavy eye make up the crowd cheered him onto the stage. Tim Minchin is well known for his atheism, love of Richard Dawkins, dislike of religious fundamentalism and love of rationality. The statistical terms of correlation and causation were then explained with ... Read review

...only for an evening, its Up the Creek Too and Comedy and Cabaret Club situated in South Croydon in what used to be a Porn cinema, back in the 70’s. Quite an auspicious dwelling for nights of comedy, with the claret red walls and bizarre items of memorabilia hanging around the place, it all adds to the atmosphere. How does it work? UTC is open on both Friday and Saturday nights from around 8 o’clock till around 2am if there are enough ......advisable to make your way up the stairs to secure your seats before making your way to the downstairs bar. The bar downstairs is pretty standard fair beers, wines, spirits and alcho-pops are all available for your quaffing pleasure. The downstairs bar is also the location of the excellent Thai Restaurant, very reasonably priced traditional Thai dishes are available from the friendly staff and I usually go for the vegetarian Phad Thai. ...winding down his tour of the United Kingdom, going from city to city, putting on his critically acclaimed one-man show. The Keith Barrett Show is a BBC2 television series, soon to be shooting it's 3rd series in Autumn. The star of the show, Keith Barrett, first hit our screens in 2000 with the black comedy mockumentary "Marion and Geoff". The bizarre and strangely addictive comedy which was centred around one man and his car, inspired two series ......being called cutting edge and the critics loved it. So with the commissioning of his new studio show, The Keith Barrett Show, it was decided a live tour was needed. Now the Keith Barrett Show follows a fairly rigid format, which anyone who has this BBC2 show will know, and include Keith introducing a celebrity couple (e.g. Richard and Judy). Then in the style of a chat show, Keith quizzes the two on their relationship and acts as a love guru (even ... Read review

...let me introduce to you Ross Noble. He's a thin little Geordie man who can't talk to you for more than 30 seconds without heading off on a tangent. This is what makes him such a different comedian. Lots of comedians nowadays specialise in observational comedy but Ross’ motto must be “Keeping it Vaguely Imaginary” as he wanders from the mundane into the world of weird. His stories are never too long, he always wanders off down another train of thought ......the show we learnt that Ross loves Ian McKellen because he has brought to life two of his favourite ever literary characters, Gandalf the White/Grey and Magneto. He met Sir McKellen at a charity event before the last tour and was so chuffed to be meeting him he went into Wolverine mode and shook Sir McKellen's hand with just three fingers sticking out. Unpertubed by this faux pas, he ended up working with him on 'Have I got News For You' and on it ... Read review
