A couple of months ago we recieved a phone call from a living design salesman, we agreed to have him visit and give us a quote. He was here for the whole afternoon drawing sketches and showing us pictures of celebreties who had also had their kitchens fitted by the company. eventually he came up with a quote for £8000!!! which we said was out of our budget. Yhe salesman then said that they had an offer on which meant he could knock £1000 off but this was still too expensive. He then said "What if I could get you the cooker for free" This haggling went on for some time.
in the end he asked us what we thought was a reasonable price we went with £4000 (half the original price) and after a phone call to his boss he agreed, on the condition we would have some before and after photos done and write a letter he could show to future customers saying how delighted we were with our kitchen, neither of which we have done.
we were contacted by the company to arrange the fitting date which was a few weeks later. The day before the fitter was due to arrive we received a phone call saying the previous job had overrun and they would be a day late, but they would still be able to fit the kitchen within the 2 days promised, which they did, except for doors thet weren't on straight, a hole in the wall where the sink originally was, no sealant around the new sink and no splashback.
The fitter also made no effort to tidy up and had ruined our carpet by sawing wood directly on it.
After several calls to the depot manager who was always unable to speak to us because he was on another phone (probably more complaints) he eventually came round agreed with us that the work was substandard and said he would send someone out to rectify the problem. After two no shows the fitter fianally turned up (late) and fixed the problems. Our kitchen is now finished and looks lovely but I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone except perhaps my worst enemy
