After months of noticing and trying to ignore various articles on this cleanser; I successfully (albeit) for a while resisting the onslaught of accolades being awarded to this unique cleanser. However I ultimately buckled; caving in not to the media hyper surrounding it but by ultimately by seeing a family members glowing skin. It was at an up close and personal family Christmas get together that I noticed the glow coming off one of my relative's face; general chatting ensued and she happened to mention she was now using the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. Bang! that was the advert I needed for the push to purchase! Being that close and personal and noticing the radiant glow her skin was producing like a beacon of light in the somewhat dim and dark surroundings of the restaurant was enough for me. Drat! I would now have to fork out on some decent cleanser for a change - no more popping into pound land for their cheap but drying makeup wipes; this new purchase was going to be pricey...

~~ The Purchase ~~

So having succumbed to the inevitable of having to release my credit card from the freezer (yes I had frozen it in a desperate attempt to reign in my out of control spending; that's a whole other story). Anyway once the cc was out of the deep freeze I was determined to shop around to get the best deal possible. Having clicked through top cash back and find there was no luck there, searching eBay for some better deals which came up very poor ; I the decided to just be sensible and try the Liz Earle website direct, (the suck it and see approach). I was not sorry the goodies came in bang on price (I opted for the initial try me package) which included a decent sized 50 ml Instant Boost skin tonic (Toner to you and me) and two moisteners, a muslin cloth, oh and an aqua small zipped beauty pouch to pop it all in; total cost = £23.25. As well as this they give you a free complimentary gift as well which turned out to be another decent sized moisturiser. I should add that you have p&p costs on top of that at £3. However the extra gift they send you and the speed of delivery more than compensates that in my opinion. Another plus is if you give the name and address of the person who told you about them they will also send the friend a free complimentary gift too - Get in there!

~~ Usage ~~

Now we get to the interesting bit. A bit of background on my skin, I have sensitive skin used to be oily and is now slightly dry. So I have been around the block with regards to skincare products and am not easily impressed nowadays by strap lines claiming miracle skincare cures have been found.

My personal experience has been quite often a product might well be good on the first and even second use, as my skin is not used to it, and does not know yet how to react to it. However a bit further down the line, my skin reverts back to normal and the once great product now seems woefully inadequate and now defunct hence then been resigned to the dark depths of the bathroom cabinet to collect dust along with the other 'scrapyard' of products.

So whatever the initial outcome on this product I was going to reserve judgment until every last scrap of it was used.

Following the instructions, I dutifully squeezed out the relevant amount (50p coin size) and rubbed it into my dry skin on top of my makeup. I then took out the muslin cloth and put it under the tap under the 'hand hot' water as directed; then dutifully 'polished' the cream off my face - hence the name Hot Polish Cleanser ...get it lol... I then re-rinsed the cloth and repeated. Initially my skin looked clean and on the second rinse I was somewhat surprised (for that READ incredulous) to see that ALL of my makeup had been removed and that included the eye makeup. Wow that was pretty easy I thought, no huge wads of discarded toilet tissue clogging up my toiler with excesses of wasted cleanser on it. Bingo! That has got to be good if not for the cost of the waste in toilet tissue. Then I peered into the mirror at my skin, hhmm it actually looked ;.good (sans makeup), radiant, cleansed and squeaky clean with not one bit of makeup on it and all that took less than 30 seconds to to. Well it goes without saying I went on using it, again and again. Each time I use it my skin feels hydrated, softened (that is the cocoa butter in it) and truly deep down clean.

So all in all good - but the big selling point for me is the super light scent this has, it does have an overriding scent of eucalyptus but that is because it is one of its key ingredients. But the smell is natural; not bland and plain and not vastly overpowering to bring on a headache. It is just a genuinely light fresh and natural aroma. Other key ingredients include hops extract (weirdly enough I had only ever heard of this in beer), rosemary essential oil, chamomile oil, pro-vitamin D5, vegetable derived glycerine and beeswax). Pretty natural ingredients all round I would say.

~~ Selling Points ~~

As I said on a previous review what I also like about these products is are not tested on animals at all which is a big plus selling point for me. In addition Liz Earle is now a skincare guru in her own right and is the founder of the company, She was seen regularly on Breakfast TV for quite a few years and has spent much time researching the products she now advocates.

~~ Conclusion ~~

If you want something that really does make your skin feel naturally cleansed, hydrated, radiant and balanced as well as something that works quickly, simply and without excessive manufactured products then this item is for you. As you will have read I was a somewhat reluctant purchaser as I did not want to part with my hard earned cash on something that would just clean your face but boy! How wrong I was. This is something I will fork out on now and know that it is a product worth those paying that bit extra for as I have also worked out a little goes a long way and the ingredients used are worth every penny.

Availability of this item has exploded recently; initially hard to come by apparently you can now purchase this item through the QVC Channel or online at the Liz Earle website direct but the big deal now is that you can purchase it in John Lewis stores and there are some separate stores opening up, one I visited last week is in Guildford (on the cobbled high street near the bottom if you do visit) but there are also stores in Isle of Wight (of course!

), Leeds and London.

What I would add is if you do purchase online via QVC or off the TV from them they do have a no quibble guarantee apparently so you can try the item and if you are not 100% happy you can return it for a full refund - how good is that?! Not many companies offer you that but by doing this it says about the ethos of the company and also the confidence in the products they are producing. A win-win situation for both the buyer and seller if you ask me.
You can also go online to the Liz Earle website which tells you more about the history of the company and the products which I found invaluable being able to read through and get a feel of the company and the products they were producing prior to purchasing. I think it was this that swung it for me to try the items ultimately as it advocates a really fresh approach to skincare and in addition when you see Liz Earle's glowing skin in the photos it is not too a shabby advert to be advocating her skincare range!
