Liz Earle, as some of you may know, began as a beauty journalist and author of beauty books and about 10 years ago launched her own cosmetics and beauty brand: Liz Earle Naturally Active Skin Care.
Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion was one of the first 'staple' products to be produced and is marketed as:
"This mild, herbal lotion contains soothing eyebright to help reduce puffiness, toning witch hazel and cooling aloe vera. The light, non-oily formula brings instant refreshment and even removes light eye make-up" (Liz Earle website: www.lizearle.com)
~~Packaging~~ Eyebright comes in 2 sizes: 150ml and 50ml. The 150ml size has a twist up cap; ideal to prevent leaks and spillages but a little bit hard to open with damp hands. The 50ml size is a twist off cap and good for travelling. Both come in the cream coloured packaging of the Liz Earle Eye Care range.
~~To Use~~ To remove eye makeup: Unscrew lid and apply a little to a cotton wool pad. Keeping the pad static for a moment over the eye and sweeping gently down will remove most light eye shadow and eye liner, but has more trouble with mascara.
To soothe eyes: Again, follow the above action but leave over the eyes for around 10 minutes to gain the cooling benefit.
~~Ingredients~~ All Liz Earle products use botanic and organic ingredients which include: witch hazel and aloe vera. The solution is alcohol free and oil free. It claims to be suitable for contact lens wearers and sensitive eyes. It smells nice and fresh.
~~Price~~ From Liz Earle's website at October 2005:
150ml £7.25 2 x 50ml £7.75
~~My Experience~~ Eyebright is not very effective as a whole eye make up remover. Used in conjunction with Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish it is effective, but on its own it just doesn't do the job. For the price of this product, it really isn't worth it.
~~Availability~~ This product isn't readily available to purchase from major beauty outlets such as Boots but is available from:

Advantages: soothing, cooling and calming great if you wear glasses or had a rough night Disadvantages: bit expensive to use everyday, doesnt remove heavy eye make up
I bought this when i was in London and made sure to visit her shop there. I bought a few of the other products I use from her range and threw this in for no particular reason because I probably didn't need it. However after using it for 6 months I find i actually really like it. Its a soothing lotion designed for the delicate eye area to cool and soothe and reduce puffiness. It contains natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera to cool and soothe, eyebright ... ...tone the area. With all these nice ingredients it has a very pleasant smell.
It costs about £9 for 150ml (also available in 50ml) which i do find a little expensive for what it is however it is not something i use everyday so one bottle lasts a while i still have mine 6 months on. It can be used everyday but i usually find i forget so the time i use it is really only when i need to.
for example if i have been out for the evening and have been wearing ...

Advantages: A nice pale bottle on your bath room shelf. Disadvantages: Oh, was it meant to be used for cleaning? It stings my eyes!
...excited to try my first Liz Earle's product.
According to Liz Earle, this is a gentle yet effective eye make up remover, which doubles as eye compress to reduce puffiness and revive your tired eyes.
Well it woke my eyes up all right... Here's my first experience with Eyebright:
"OK, gently does it... sweep sweep sweeep... why is it stinging so much, I can't even open my eyes to see if my mascara and eye shadows are cleaned off. What's going on? ... ...product, without any spills.
Also the smell is very nice and fresh, lots of natural ingredients (eg. corn flower extract and witch hazel), that you would expect from Liz Earle's products, are generously contained in this product. However I personally think it's witch hazel that stings my eyes.... ...

Advantages: packaging and the fact you can keep it cool in the fridge Disadvantages: more expensive than cucumber!
...Pakaging: Great, like all Liz Earle packaging, small and compact and easy to store in a little corner on the fridge shelf. Smell: None, couldnt smell anything no matter how hard i tried. Usage: You apply "Eyebright to a cotton wool pad to clean and wake up your eyes first thing. For a revitalising, soothing compress, soak 2 cotton wool pads in Eyebright and place over eyes and relax for 5 - 10 minutes" Considering i only used this for 1 week max, ... ...work. My eyes were the same, they didnt look refreshed, the puffyness didnt go down in the morning, it irratated my eyes. It was a disaster. I would get more results from 2 slices of cucumber. Sorry Liz Earle fans, but for me this is a no no ...

Advantages: one of the Natural Skincare Products, therefore completely chemical and additive free Disadvantages: Doesn't really do the job very well
I am a Liz Earle devotee and like to use all of her products if I can, but I'm afraid to say that Eyebright has not been a favourite of mine. It is sold initially as an eye make-up remover and it does remove light eye make-up but I have found it doesn't remove mascara particularly well. Yes, it removes eye shadow but then so would baby lotion and lots of other similar products. It is very soothing when your eyes are tired as you can empty some onto ... ...of money on it. Liz recommends that you keep it in the fridge in hot weather as it is nice to use when cooled - especially, as I said, over the eyes, and yes it is very refreshing then. The majority of Liz's products are absolutely gorgeous, they smell divine and do the job well, but Eyebright is the one product that falls down, in my opinion. I'm afraid I won't be purchasing this product again. ...

Advantages: Excellent product and very soothing to the eyes. Disadvantages: A little expensive, and the watery texture makes it easy to spill
I was sceptical about Liz Earle products until about a year ago when I was given some by a friend. I now use her full range, Eyebright being one of my favourites. Although its not powerful enough to remove heavy eye make up and waterproof mascara, it is very soothing and makes eyes feel wonderful. I use it in the mornings to help with that "I need a matchstick to keep my lids up" feeling, and also dab it around my eyes during the day when they feel ... ...pads for the "just back from the health spa" sensation. I suffer from dry eye and it really helps with the symptoms this brings, and also is peace of mind knowing that as a Liz Earle product it isn't tested on animals, nor are any of the ingredients. ...

Advantages: quick-drying, gives a natural look, good price, is waterproof Disadvantages: none!
can be built up with more layers for something bolder. The two colours available are also very natural-looking and are sure to match most people's colouring, unless you are very pale.
--Texture--
One or two clumps are present, but not many. It's also quick-drying, meaning no smudges on your eyelids while you proceed with the rest of your makeup routine.
--Longevity--
This is most definitely waterproof, protecting your face against any wetness, from rain to swimming pools to tears, meaning no more panda eyes. Saying this, however, it is a little difficult to remove, so make sure you use a gentle eye makeup remover while persevering (try LizEarle's Eyebright).
--Value for money--
At less than £5, who can possibly argue? Its value is added to not only by its sheer fulfilment of its advertising but also by the fact that this ...
