All of us have probably heard of Lloyd Grossman from either Masterchef or Through The Key Hole, however, in the last two years he has also been making an appearance on our local supermarket shelves as he launched his range of sauces, soups and pasta.
If like me you fancy a good curry now and again, this is definetely worth a try. I was for a long time an adict of Uncle Bens range but after a while it just tasted the same time and time again and I was looking for something different. Once I tried this my currys started to have a bit of taste in them and not just the hot burning sensation you get from most currys.
Lloyd's Madras Curry Sauce is made of a hot blend of onions, garlic and chilli in a rich tomato sauce and really does tickle the taste buds whilst burning your tongue.
On reading the ingredients it almost looks like Lloyd threw in everything but the kitchen sink, but the combination of ginger, lemon juice and tomato puree all add that bit of flavour to it.
The sauce comes in a glass jar and weighs 425g. Priced at £1.99 (£0.47/100g) it is quite on the expensive side, when compared to Chicken Tonight at £1.16 or Uncle Bens at £1.43, but if you are after a meal with that extra bit of taste it is worth every bit extra.
When making a curry I prefer either chicken or beef, but you can easily experiment with lamb, pork, vegetables or anything you like. (Suggestions and samples much appreciated). Simply pan fry, add the sauce and simmer, then add to chips, rice or again why not experiment.
If you really want to be experimental why not check out Lloyds recipes on his website www.loydgrossmansauces.com (note there is one less L in the address). The website also comes with details of his entire range should you wish to try anymore out.
Give it a try and let me know if you like it.

Loyd Grossman's Madras Curry Sauce is a hit
Review of Lloyd Grossman's Madras Curry Sauce by
Spottydog11
Advantages: Taste, style, convenience
Disadvantages: Hot!
I was a bit speptical when I heard the Loyd "throught the key hole" Grossman was now producing sauces for pasta, curry's etc but my husband suggested we give them a try as we were getting tired of the Dolmio type sauces on offer that we always try.
We went for the Loyd Grossman Madras as my husband likes spcicy curry sauces but he did have a wide range available, such a Rogan Josh, Bhuna, Thai Chilli, Balti, Korma etc. The packaging was quite intriguing ... ...sauces on offer such as the Dolmio as mentioned before. I guess it was a little expensive at £1.99 a jar but if you compare this to £5+ for an actual curry then it is a bargain.
When my husband said he liked hot currys boy was he right, this was a very hot curry sauce, you definitely did need a lot of fluid to help you get through the meal. We have now tried some of the other flavours and there are milder ones which is nice as I have one of those ...

One HOT sauce
Review of Lloyd Grossman's Madras Curry Sauce by
Girl9925
Advantages: It's Curry Sauce
Disadvantages: It has a picture of Lloyd Grossman on jar!
...the first time I used Lloyd Grossman's Madras Curry Sauce. I normally cook for my dad - who has recently found out that he has coeliac disease (intolerance of gluten/wheat) - this is the reason why I chose this sauce because we'd never tried it before and it's suitable for his diet.
When you open the jar, the sauce looks really oily, but once it's in the pan it's fine. If you like a spicy curry but you don't want your mouth set alight, this is a ... ...ones being garlic, onion and chilli, but there are so many ingredients that it almost tastes different with each mouthful!
It is really quick and simple to cook aswell, all you've gotta do is cook your meat - (any type will be sure to taste great, I like chicken and pork) - then add the sauce, simmer for a while, add to your rice, make sure you have your naan bread and poppadums on the side, and voila! there's your 5 star curry.
I've tried Lloyd's ...

Heres whos house it is....
Review of Lloyd Grossman's Madras Curry Sauce by
Easterbunny2
Advantages: great taste and smell, eco friendly packaging
Disadvantages: Costs the earth!
...the key hole! Yes Mr. Lloyd Grossman has stopped being a nosey parker and has decided to work in a factory making fine sauces that cost the earth because hes made it, but do taste suprisingly good! I do like a good curry especially on a friday night after a long hard week at the office and I splashed out on one of Lloyd's jars of delight for the sum of £3.99 I must have had a screw loose! However on inspecting the packaging it made my day as it was ... ...aided the cooking of my curry extremely well. The smell and overall blend of spices really makes this sauce worth while! Cooking time at 20 minutes after you've cooked your other ingredients, which isn't bad!
My best advise is to look out for the offers on these as individually they are a rich man's pleasure. ...
