dont pay the fee

Advantages: good credit limit, helpful customer service team
Disadvantages: you have to pay back what you borrow!!!

I have a gold card from Lloyds TSB and I must confess, I only got it because when I went into the bank for my “annual review”, the customer service girl really pushed it and told me how useful it would be. I just took her advice, as I have found Lloyds helpful over the years, especially when I have been in dire financial straits, so I duly signed all the paperwork and left. The card arrived shortly afterwards. I had thought I would keep ...
...intention did not last long and I ran up a bill of just over £1000. Determined to cut it down, I religiously paid more than the minimum 2% they insist on. Just as I was making great inroads into paying out the debt, they increased my credit limit without me even asking them!!! I have now paid the card off, but have encountered another problem. they say that they have no annual fee – which is great. BUT, they do have a “low usage” ...

High APR and low customer services

Advantages: Easy to use. Statements are prompt, leaving good time to pay.
Disadvantages: High APR, useless points and customer services are clueless.

I have had the Lloyds TSB visa and mastercard since about 1985 (show my age now!). I never had any problem with the APR until other banks and building societies brought in cards with good introductory rates. Now it seems Lloyds TSB has one of the highest rates around. I did ask for a more competitive rate on two occasions, but I am still waiting for anyone to get back to me on that! Having said that, it has been widely accepted everywhere, and whenever ...
...are more than happy to increase my credit limit. However, using internet banking, I recently paid both cards and only one was paid out, leaving one card payment overdue. I immediately put the payment back on (a Lloyds TSB error, I would point out) and tried to ring so my card wasn't stopped as I was about to go on my hols. I was chasing round for TWO HOURS round various customer service departments and in the end was told hard cheese, we will stop ...

Asset Platinum Visa

Advantages: Low APR, no annual fee, looks pretty
Disadvantages: No reward scheme

Lloyds TSB recently issued me with one of their Asset Platinum cards. This came as quite a surprise to me as I only earn £15,000 a year, and was under the impression that a Platinum card holder had to earn a fair bit more, but having been a good customer for a number of years (and spending a small fortune each year with Lloyds on other financial products) welcomed the offer. Two weeks after applying, my shiny new Platinum card duly arrived, along ...
...seems like a great piece of plastic - 3.9% APR on transfer balances and a very competitive APR on purchases. There's no annual fee, and, I must confess, it's a bit of a status symbol really. I can actually convince friends and clients I'm slightly minted as I have a Platinum card, when actually I don't earn a small fortune or drive around in a Mercedes. But hey, works for me. Asset doesn't offer any reward scheme as such for using it's card, which ...

A curates egg

Advantages: Online fraud guarantee, credit card cheques, no fee
Disadvantages: Crazy loyalty scheme, high interest rates

Apply for and use a TSB Trustcard Visa Mastercard you will earn free loyalty points. The credit cards are standard fare, offering the option to transfer your balance from another credit card ( but no points are awarded for this ). 11.8% APR introductory rate for 6 months on transfered balances, 20.4% APR after that. There is a good addition of free purchase protection to cover some items against theft or damage. An option to apply online is available. ...
...it has all the normal advantages -acceptable in thousands of places in the UK & worldwide, cash advances and so on. Loyalty points on offer is 1 point for each £10 spent. It has to be said this is one of the most useless loyalty schemes I have come across. You cant actually buy anything with just points. You can only get discounts on goods or special offers. ie for 50 points you can get 10% off Argos vouchers, for 50 points you can get 10% off holidays ...

Create yourself a card.

Advantages: Create a card to suit you, online or posted statements
Disadvantages: slow to respond

I have just applied for a Lloyds TSB createcard because I already have a card with Capital One which is dire to say the least. I have a limit of £200 and im basically up to this limit. The intrest i am incurring is nearly £5 a month for this so the balance is barely going down. I chose createcard because it sounded an interesting concept, the APR goes down depending on whether you choose to do your 'dealings' online or not, whether you pay by direct ...
...scheme and whether you choose to recieve Paper statments. I chose to pay a £10 annual fee, but no direct debit or cashback & to recieve paper statements. I don't think I could trust myself to do my entire business online, I would be likely to forget to pay or be so unfortunate that my mum would be hogging up the phone so long I wouldnt be able to get online in time for the monthly payment!. The balance transfer rate is currently 0& for six months, ...

Lloyds TSB "The Bank for Your Daily Routine.

Advantages: All over branches, Easy to Open new Account, Good customer care services
Disadvantages: Hard to get Overdraft or Advance

with lloyds TSB. It provides pin and chip VISA Debit card with account. Visa is accepted all over world with most of the stores & banks & also in cash points. I am using it hassle free for last many years. I am getting my salary in check & I use to pay in my account by visiting my nearest bank with ease, but it taking 4-5 working days to clear the check as like in other banks. If you looking for overdraft or advance than better to go barclays or HSBC rather wasting your time with other banks, because it's quite difficult to get from other banks due to there limitness. And the same thing is with Lloyds TSB. It realy need to be improved particularly in this part to stand with other banks. But it have small small branches all over uk covering a huge part, even in a small street you can find lloyds TSB bank near to you. Over all services of lloyds TSB ...

Review of Lloyds TSB

Not as bad as people make out

Advantages: Available to people 11+
Disadvantages: Acceptance not as good as Visa Debit but getting better

I have two Visa Electron cards from Bank of Scotland (Halifax) and have no real complaints about them. Had VERY little trouble with acceptance since recieving them and far more freedom with my money. People who are saying that hardly anywhere accepts them are wrong. As for putting it through as VISA online, 8 times out of 10 this does work and I've done it myself. For those aged 16+ (as I will be in a couple of months) open an account with Lloyds TSB instead, they give you a Visa Debit card. Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank issue Maestro on all of their accounts, for people aged 11+, even on their basic bank accounts for those with bad credit ratings. Don't knock Electron but get something better if you can. ...

LLoyds TSB Student Account

Lloyds TSB offer an excellent student account for anyone who has been a resident of the United Kingdom for 3 years and is studying a 3 year (or more) course at University. First of all LLoyds TSB is an excellent bank with great customer service, loads of branches and thousands of cash points around the world. The account comes with a VISA debit card and cheque book and there is also an option of taking out a student credit card . This account offers a number of benefits including a tiered £1500 interest free overdraft, £20 free (you can earn an extra £80 by introducing four friends), a free NUS card, 1 years free youth hostel membership and 35 free eMusic downloads.
