A Blood-Curdling Review.

Advantages: You might get fixed
Disadvantages: Most men prefer socks or pants.

The Lloyd's Pharmacy Blood Pressure Monitor is the most peculiar present I've ever been given for my birthday. I even emailed my sister and told her I thought so. She pointed out that I'm getting older and if it stops me getting a heart attack or having a stroke then it was a good present. I think she's right and I didn't mean to be ungrateful. Of course it's better to know. It's just that I was feeling quite well when she sent it and now that I've ...
...supplied chart I think I might be at death's door.

Just kidding! This is actually a great present for me. I tend to veer from dieting and long distance running to lolling about with a bottle of whisky and as much chocolate as I can find. I ended my last committed and effective diet on Christmas Day of 2006 and I'm still showing no signs of being sensible again.

Furthermore I once had a pulmonary embolism. That's caused ... more

Oooh - Time to play Doctors and Nurses!

Advantages: Simple to use, an absolute bargain!
Disadvantages: None

...the advert on TV for Lloyds Pharmacy's Blood Pressure Monitor for only £9.99, I quickly snapped one up. Needless to say all family and friends and even the poor customers of our pub have been rigged up and thoroughly checked with this product! The monitor which is approx 12cm x 8cm, white in colour with a light blue start button and dark blue on/off button and labels above the results window, stating from left to right Systolic, Diastolic and Pulse/min, ...
...manual, a leaflet on Lifestyle advice to lower Blood Pressure, a Blood Pressure Record Table to record your own results and batteries. You can actually buy bigger or smaller cuffs for £2.99, the one in the box is medium, which fits my arm (average) and my partners (like Shreks)!. The instructions are very straight forward and the monitor is easy to use. Briefly you connect the sleeve via a rubbery looking tube to the monitor, thread your arm through ...

grace under pressure

Advantages: excellent value, quick, accurate, fully automatic
Disadvantages: not aesthetically pleasing

...the Omron looks nicer than Lloyds but not that much nicer. The Lloyds is actually a £50.00 machine but the price is reduced to £9.99. Admittedly the price cuts are not all down to altruism; Lloyds are a rapidly developing pharmaceutical market leader, their market share has increased by 67%. They have achieved this by placing pharmacies in GPs surgeries and doing free health checks i.e. diabetic and blood pressure. They also reduced the prices of ...
...the consumers favour. The Lloyds is a basic machine it just takes your BP and pulse, but really that’s all you need it to do. It doesn’t need a fancy memory or a comparative diary. 99% of users would be able to do nothing with that kind of memory and its not a good thing to mess with without a doctors advice. The Omron is a somewhat plain looking machine, it’s an off white plastic outer, the face panel is grey and the buttons are blue, one light, ...

Quick review of LLoyds Pharmacy Blood Pressure Monitor

I have a Lloyds Parmacy automatic, upper arm blood pressure monitor and find it easy to use but the readings very erratic. I am 62 years old, male and in good health. My sugar and cholesterol are slightly high. The nurse took my blood pressure, 151 / 75 she then used the Lloyds meter and it was 171 / 80, two minutes later? Last week my doctor took it, 140 / 80. at home it was 161/75, 30 minutes later? My lloyds readings are from 169 to 142 systolic and 88 to 75 diastolic. So I am going to use the nurse or doctor in future and the metre is going on ebay! ...

Cheap is rarely best

Advantages: Price- at least you won't lose more than £10!
Disadvantages: Lack of British Hypertension Society validation

From reading other reviews on this site, it would appear that this monitor is as good as anything on the market: HOWEVER it is not, and is highly unlikely, ever to be clinically validated as the results are not proven to be accurate. In fact in my experience have been well off the mark. This makes it misleading to call it accurate - particularly if someone has a pulmonary embolism or other condition. Those looking to monitor their blood pressure ...
...Society, which will not mask any problems. As a final thought, one review stated this is a £50 machine being sold for £9.99. As far as I know, the product has not been widely (if at all) available for sale at £50, only £9.99 or less so I cannot see how it can be described as such. ...
