From reading other reviews on this site, it would appear that this monitor is as good as anything on the market: HOWEVER it is not, and is highly unlikely, ever to be clinically validated as the results are not proven to be accurate. In fact in my experience have been well off the mark. This makes it misleading to call it accurate - particularly if someone has a pulmonary embolism or other condition. Those looking to monitor their blood pressure should use a validated monitor, approved by the British Hypertension Society, which will not mask any problems. As a final thought, one review stated this is a £50 machine being sold for £9.99. As far as I know, the product has not been widely (if at all) available for sale at £50, only £9.99 or less so I cannot see how it can be described as such.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Advice taken on board!
With regards to how I know it is accurate, I mentioned it to my GP and he asked me to take it in when I mentioned the discrepancy. We took my blood pressure with his machine (A and D, which he definitely said was clinically validated) and then my one. I tend to trust the GP far more than myself when it comes to medical matters! The results were way out, about 15 points on the second time we took it. He advised me to return the monitor so I did, stating it was not fit for purpose and I got my money back so no harm done! It does worry me that without checking with my GP I wouldn't have had a clue what my real BP was though...
Have now bought an A and D one and much happier, and so's my GP! Paid about £50 (not £70 as it is in some places), so for £40 extra I have much more peace of mind.

Welcome to Ciao, an OK first review. Have a read of some other reviews to get an idea of what is needed to get higher ratings, and also the advice on review writing in the Ciao Cafe. I think suelr13 raised some good points as well! MaryX
