Lloyds TSB'S Select Account is a Winner

Advantages: Services provided with the account package are excellant
Disadvantages: £4 a month is about the only disadvantage

I have held a Lloyds TSB account for years - not that I have used it much because I am constantly poor. I began to think that there wasn't much point in having an account which I never used so I decided to go into a city branch and close the account.

While at the branch I was reading some literature about a new account that Lloyds TSB had launched. Although I wanted to close the account I did want to open a savings account which would ...

...a packaged current account from Lloyds TSB, yes you heard it Lloyds TSB. I'm not a huge fan of all their products or services as there aren’t many compared to the other High street banks although they do share the disadvantages ... The only account I feel is worth staying with them is the Select account, but it doesn’t come free, as there is a monthly charge of £4. I have stayed with them because of the benefits package they offer with ...
...credit card providers, although with Lloyds TSB it’s for items bought both on credit & debit card. 4- Direct Debit benefit which although I haven’t used but does seem useful. This benefit is payable if you’re unable to work after accident or illness they pay your direct debitS up to £100 for 3 months. 5- Cheaper loans. There are other saving which aren’t all that exciting & are usually available weather you are a select ...

Lloyds - Terrible Student Banking

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: very poor and complicated service

...of my recent woe with Lloyds TSB. If you are about to become a student, or are thinking of changing to this account, read this closely. It may save you a lot of hassle... For a number of reasons (which I choose not to go into here), I only converted my ordinary account to a student account throughout the last year of my degree. My oh my, do I now wish I had selected my bank more carefully, now that I no longer feel the need to look at the fishes ...
...phoning up your 'branch'. Although Lloyds TSB has many different branches, you can only do some things over the phone, e.g. overdraft extension requests. Although I don't like to be unfair to call-centre staff (especially considering their mind-numbing job), they don't always seem on the ball. Well, not so much off the ball as out the stadium, if you know what I mean. I think it's much more practical to have students being able to bank with a local ...

My LloydsTSB Student Account

Advantages: Offers services you'd expect from a bank, high free overdraft limit for students
Disadvantages: Confusion applying, no interest, little contact, constant changes, poor internet banking

...that I have had a Lloyds account since 14/11/1996; opened when I was 14 with the princely sum of £5. In all that time, I’ve mostly been very satisfied. What's more, the bank has merged with TSB, offering more cashpoints, introduced internet banking, etc, etc. When I first opened the account, it was a special account for young people, known as a ‘Headway’ account and paying between 1% and 2.15 % interest (depending on how much was ...
...had two bank accounts, my Lloyds one and another ‘Further Education’ (i.e. sixth form) one at Barclays. Obviously you’re allowed as many bank accounts as you like, but only one student one (as they come with special benefits); although I do know people who’ve managed to open several! After looking around at what was on offer (including consulting my dad’s Which?; I wasn’t on Ciao then!) I decided Lloyds was the ...

Gold Service Current Account

Advantages: Great Savings
Disadvantages: Very few

I have been a Lloyds-TSB customer for many years but I have only opened a Gold Service current account recently, and how I wish I had bothered reading the leaflets my bank used to send me on a regular basis and which I ignored with the same regularity. The Gold Service current account really offer a very good service. It is trus that you have to keep a minimum balance of £1000 in your account, but having said that you do get many benefits. In many ...

Students Check Out Lloyds TSB

Advantages: Overdraft, Online banking
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...e.bank student accounts offered by Lloyds and not an endorsement of other accounts. Don't confuse with the graduate account)> In the couple of months before I began university I realised I needed to open an account asap. I had a browse through all the different student accounts offered by the major banks and decided to go for Lloyds TSB. There were several reasons why I picked Lloyds. Firstly my parents used Lloyds and found them to be excellent. ...
...up the account at any Lloyds TSB branch the actual "e.bank for students" accounts are based in Newport S.Wales. In my experience this doesn't matter as you can do all your banking at any branch of Lloyds or online. The only downside is the cost of phoning the 0845 number (open 9am to 7pm mon to fri). Lloyds also offers the best overdraft facility of any account i've seen. They offer £1500 during years 1-3 and up to £2000 in years 4 and 5 and this ...

Current Account at Lloyds TSB

Advantages: Online banking is okay
Disadvantages: Pushy sales staff, poor rates, unethical.

Lloyds TSB are becoming increasingly irritating with their in-branch pushy sales tactics. What used to be a five minute visit to the bank has now become 40 minutes as they try and sell you a mortgage, credit card, loan, insurance or an up grade to your account. If I do need to go into a Lloyds TSB branch, I mentally prepare myself before entering so that I am ready to speak assertively when the cashier asks ''There is something flashing up on your account. Do you have a few moments to speak to someone about this? It could be important.'' Don't be fooled. This means they want to take you into a room to try and sell you products and you will feel very awkward about coming out of the room, 40 minutes later, without agreeing to insurance/ credit card/ mortgage. I was also getting a phone call every day at home until I asked to come ...

LloydsTSB Gold service online account

Advantages: Best online banking service IMHO
Disadvantages: Low interest rates and account charges

I've had this account for about 2 years now and I'm still using it as my main account. Quite surprising as as the interest rate is low and some of the services are expensive. At the moment a lot of other banks are offering cash incentives to transfer your main account and the financial watchdogs are trying to make the process as easy as possible. So why have I stuck with this account for so long? The £8 a month fee is about £8 more than I'd like to pay when I'm in credit but it does pay for a few interesting perks. As well as the usual Sentinel card protection you get worldwide travel insurance, a freepost gold-coloured keyfob so hopefully if you ever lose your keys they will be returned to you and I recently got a letter saying the account would also include break-down cover this year. If you don't want to pay £96 per year ...

In the right hand corner, under the green tabs, is "Welcome to Lloyds TSB" and below that is a little grey section [Internet Banking] with two blue buttons Personal Log on and Business Log on and a further underlined link Register now. Registration requires that you be over 16, have a LloydsTSB product to register for internet banking, an e-mail address, and to agree to the T&Cs before you register. Joint account holders have to register separately. You will need to create and remember a password and keep it secure.
